It had been a while since Khamzat Chimaev had put his unblemished MMA record on the line – a year, in fact. However, he showed little to no rust in an impressive dispatching of Robert Whittaker in October of 2024, submitting him in the first round.

Suddenly, the guy many were concerned about due to health issues has his UFC star back on the rise. Standing in at an impressive 14-0 (8-0 under the UFC banner), the sky’s the limit for Chimaev’s prospects.

Naturally, you can bet on what comes next, and how it goes down. This post will analyze the latest Khamzat Chimaev odds and prop bets, and also offer predictions for how things could unfold.

Let’s start by checking out the latest Khamzat Chimaev props you can find at most online sportsbooks.

But which Khamzat Chimaev fights will happen, and who will win? I’ll break them all down below. Of course, I am just one voice to consider when betting on MMA action. If you want more help and some useful resources, consider trying out our sports betting handicapping trial for free.

Khamzat Chimaev Predictions

Nothing is official when trying to predict who Khamzat Chimaev will fight next, but these three bouts are on everyone’s radar. Let’s find out how to bet on them ahead of time.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Dricus Du Plessis

  • Khamzat Chimaev (-220)
  • Dricus Du Plessis (+155)

This is the Khamzat Chimaev fight most likely to happen at the moment, as Dricus Du Plessis is the current UFC middleweight champion and he’s made it known he’d love this matchup to happen.

It’s not necessarily just up to Du Plessis, but I find it hard to believe Dana White wouldn’t love for this fight to happen. It would be quite the test for Chimaev’s perfect record, especially when you consider Du Plessis just got done smoking Israel Adesanya with a face crank.

His recent run of bodies cast to the side is insane, too. Prior to submitting Adesanya, he also took down Sean Strickland, Robert Whittaker, and Derek Brunson. Chimaev would, in theory, just be another notch on his belt.

Du Plessis is still in his physical prime at 30 years old, is red hot with 10 consecutive wins, and is a highly versatile fighter with early stoppage upside.

All true, but Chimaev has proven to be considerably tougher than Du Plessis. Unlike his potential opponent, he’s never lost, and more importantly, he’s never been knocked out or submitted. One of each has happened to Du Plessis.

More importantly, Chimaev is the better grappler of the two, he’s just as versatile, he has the same explosive upside, and he’s as aggressive and relentless as they come.

It’s tough to ignore a good fighter like De Plessis at plus money, but when you see it’s Chimaev on the other side, you get less confident. All things said, it’s Chimaev who feels like a value even at -220.

Bet: Khamzat Chimaev (-220)

Khamzat Chimaev vs Sean Strickland

  • Khamzat Chimaev (-350)
  • Sean Strickland (+225)

Another possible opponent for Khamzat Chimaev is Sean Strickland, although it’s safe to say this fight ranks second when looking at bouts we actually want to see happen from this list of props.

Strickland wouldn’t be able to offer Khamzat Chimaev a title fight, for one, while the 33-year old hasn’t been the show-stopper in recent fights that we’ve known for much of his career. Tarzan owns 11 KOs to his name, but he has knocked out just one fighter since 2021.

His list of opponents during that stretch is impressive, of course, and he does still have stellar wins over the likes of Paul Costa and Israel Adesanya. Strickland has been a bit inconsistent of late, however, going just 4-3 over his last seven bouts.

It’s arguable that this would be a fight that leans into being more of a gift to Strickland than an appropriately earned bout for someone like Chimaev that has already earned something a little higher on the food chain.

They don’t make them much tougher than Strickland (14 Decision wins), but he has been KO’d twice in his career, and once again, he isn’t the grappler Chimaev is. It’s pretty likely Chimaev would have the edge even more so in this one, and the odds indicate as much.

Bet: Khamzat Chimaev (-350)

Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards

  • Khamzat Chimaev (-240)
  • Leon Edwards (+160)

The last Khamzat Chimaev prop bet gives us a chance to wonder who would win between him and Leon Edwards. This one is priced a little tighter than the one with Strickland, seeing as the only guy Edwards hasn’t beaten in his last 14 fights is Belal Muhammad.

Edwards dropped his first loss since 2015 against Muhammad last July, but he had a murderer’s row of wins up until then, and he only lost via Decision. Immensely skilled and incredibly tough, Edwards has solid finishing ability (7 KOs), and knows how to outlast tough opponents (12 Decision wins).

Something the other two potential Khamzat Chimaev opponents can’t say? He’s never been finished. A strong 22-4 record tells a fine story, but nobody has successfully pushed Edwards out of a fight early, and that may be the biggest concern for anyone looking to back Chimaev here.

This fight might be the most compelling of this trio, of course, seeing as it was literally scheduled to happen back in 2021 before getting cancelled due to Covid-19. With that not really being an issue anymore, this one would probably actually go down if it got the green light.

While this fight may never actually happen, I have little doubt that Chimaev would win if it ultimately does. Both fighters are skilled, but he’s once again arguably the superior grappler and possesses more explosive finishing upside.

Edwards has never tapped out or been put to sleep, but I think that perfect mark would be at risk versus Chimaev.

Bet: Khamzat Chimaev (-240)

Who Is Khamzat Chimaev Fighting Next?

You can’t actually bet on who Khamzat Chimaev will fight next, but I’d be very surprised if that wasn’t another Khamzat Chimaev prop bet at some point.

Based on what I’ve already detailed, I think the most likely Khamzat Chimaev opponent to come next is Du Plessis. Dana White has been coy about Chimaev’s next match, but he has literally said he feels a title match is deserving and could arrive in 2025.

With the interest mutual between all parties, I think a showdown between Chimaev and Du Plessis would be the one I’d bet on. And as you can see above, I’d be hammering Chimaev at the current price as well.

If there’s a different fight, it could be one more bout that ultimately decides if Chimaev gets a title shot this year or not. Perhaps that comes against the winner of Israel Adesanya vs. Nassourdine Imavov, who are tentatively scheduled to face off early in 2025.
