2025 Men’s Australian Open Odds and Predictions

Last Updated on

The 2025 Australian Open odds are live at your favorite online sportsbooks, while the competition officially heats up in a little over a week.

Some of the best male tennis players in the world will lock horns starting on January 12th, as the action fires off in Melbourne, Australia. Jannik Sinner will hope to successfully defend last year’s title, while the ageless Novak Djokovic will eye a record 11th championship at the first grand slam of the season.

Not sure who will get the job done? Tennis can be unpredictable, but I’ll comb over the latest odds, analyze the top contenders, and offer my top betting pick for the Australian Open.

Want to bet on the ladies? Be sure to stop by our women’s Australian Open betting guide. With that, let’s dive into how things will shake out for the men this year.

When is the Australian Open?

The 2025 Australian Open officially gets started on January 6th with qualifying lasting until January 9th. Those dates will help cement the final 16 slots for the tourney, while the knockouts get rolling with round one on Sunday, January 12th.

Australian Open Draw

The draw will determine the matchups for each player at the Australian Open. The first and second seed are placed at opposite ends of the draw, ensuring the perceived two best tennis players won’t meet until the final match.

The actual draw is expected to take place on Thursday, January 9th on the steps of Margaret Court Arena at Melbourne Park.

Where to Watch the Australian Open?

The Australian Open TV schedule is not officially confirmed, but most matches will still be broadcast on ESPN channels, while some will be shown on the Tennis Channel.

Tennis betting fans in Australia can also watch the Australian Open via Stan Sport, while those from New Zealand can use Sky Go to access the matches. Other fans can access the grand slam through Eurosport and discovery+.

2024 ATP Australian Open Results

Jannik Sinner is your reigning Australian Open champion. He claimed his first title in this singles tourney in 2024, besting Daniil Medvedev, 3-2. He reached the final as the #4 seed, dispatching Novak Djokovic to reach the final match.

The Australian Open betting odds listed here are courtesy of online bookmakers prior to the draw. It remains to be seen precisely who else makes the final cut for the tourney, as well as who is matched up with who in the first round.

That said, it should shock nobody that the top contenders are priced as they are. Sinner is the natural favorite after winning last year, but considering he only edged out Medvedev 3-2, it’s debatable that he could be taken out this time around.

Novak Djokovic has the third best odds even though he’s slowly exiting his prime at the age of 37. Still, he nearly made it to the final in 2024 and nobody has won the Australian Open more than he has.

All things told, these Australian Open odds look pretty welcoming. I’ll dive specifically into the top contenders I like the most – and why – but I encourage you to check out our free sports betting handicapping trial if you’re interested in more help with your betting picks.

Men’s Australian Open Favorites

The following ATP players are considered the odds-on favorites to win the 2025 Men’s Australian Open:

Jannik Sinner (+150)

Sinner is the most obvious pick to win the Australian Open this year, as he’s the defending champ. If recent history is any indication, he’s now going to dominate this event for the next decade.

Joking aside, Sinner admittedly didn’t exactly dominate the Aussie Open last year. He did win three consecutive sets to grab the hardware, but for a second there he was very much on the ropes.

It’s arguable he could use that experience to prevent similar situations moving forward, while his odds do suggest he’s the likely winner. Sinner also won the US Open last year, too, so it’s pretty clear he has found his comfort zone already at age 23.

Could we be looking at the next dominant male tennis star? It’s likely, but that doesn’t make him a guaranteed winner in a top-heavy and competitive field. His price tag does suggest he’s worth a bet, but he’s not alone up top.

Carlos Alcaraz (+225)

There’s also Carlos Alcaraz, who owns the second best odds to win the Australian Open in 2025 at most sports betting sites. Alcaraz did not impress here last year, however, as he got ousted early on, losing to Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals.

The 21-year old Alcaraz is still one of the best young tennis players, however, and the Australian Open is the last grand slam he’s yet to conquer. That doesn’t mean he’ll ever get there – let alone do so in 2025 – but with titles at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, he’s proven his talent to this point.

With the Australian Open representing another check mark on this rising tennis star’s resume, I would not put it past him to lick his 2024 wounds and bounce back in a big way. Of course, it’s worth noting that he has only reached the quarter-finals in this event to this point.

Working in his favor? He’s 6-4 so far in his career against Sinner, who he may have to knock off in the title match if he can make it that far.

Novak Djokovic (+275)

How can we talk about the 2025 Australian Open without mentioning the great Novak Djokovic? Obviously he’s past his prime at age 37, but he’s still a living legend and one that can still beat a lot of these young kids.

Don’t believe me? Just go look at what he did by winning gold in tennis at the 2024 Paris Games this past summer. Djokovic may not be the dominant force he was a few years ago, but he can still hang and he could have another grand slam title up his sleeve.

Usually he’d be the favorite for this event – one he’s won a record 10 times – but age and the rise of young talent has played into some pretty appealing +275 odds.

Despite some things working against him, Novak nearly got to the final match last year, and he won this thing as recently as 2023. A return to glory – even if just one last time – wouldn’t be so crazy, and bettors can get that trip down memory lane at a severe discount.

Best Australian Open Men’s Betting Value

It’s hard to say anyone is a better value bet for this tournament than Daniil Medvedev. There is something to be said about the old adage, “close, but no cigar”, and it’s also fair to say not everyone wins everything.

Naturally, you could look at the fact that Medvedev keeps knocking on the door of this grand slam, and still suggest nobody will ever let him in. Still, if you want a bit more upside with your bet, but still want your wager to actually have a chance, I think he’s worth a look.

Medvedev was last year’s runner-up, for starters, and he really gave Jannik Sinner all he could handle. He was actually leading after the first two sets – and in convincing fashion – before dropping three straight sets to the eventual champion.

That had to hurt, especially since Medvedev has come painfully close to winning this thing before. Last year’s defeat marked the third time he reached the final and came up short, and it was also the second time in a row that he held a 2-0 lead and blew it.

Could he fight his way all the way back to the Australian Open title match and finally finish the job? If you care about the man’s psyche, you’ll certainly be pulling for him. The nice thing is he is still very much in his prime at 28, and it’s not like he doesn’t have the ability to edge out elite competition.

It’s been a minute, but Medvedev did win a grand slam at the US Open back in 2021, so I don’t think we should write him off. He is far from a lock, but a guy with his talent and history in this event feels like a steal at his +700 price tag.

Top Men’s Australian Open Longshot

It’s not very likely, but one Australian Open bet I don’t completely hate is Stefanos Tsitsipas. The 26-year old has never won a grand slam title, but he’s reached the final at both the Australian Open and the French Open.

Obviously the focus would be at this first event of the year, where he faced off with Novak Djokovic for all the marbles just two years ago.

It hasn’t been a bed of roses since, but so far Tsitsipas’ 2024 campaign hasn’t exactly suggested another march to the Australian Open final is impossible. He did win the Monte Carlo Masters title as the 12 seed, while he made it to the quarter-finals in Paris, falling to Novak again.

Aggressiveness and past success here makes Stefanos a very risky but fun play at his alluring +7000 betting odds.

2025 Men’s Australian Open Predictions

Jannik Sinner makes sense as the favorite and both he and Carlos Alcaraz make for an exciting duo as we look ahead to the next decade in men’s tennis. They are the replacement to the old guard, but I can’t quit Novak Djokovic just yet.

Not only can he still ball, but he’s also 37, not 40. I think there’s still some magic left in his legs, and his performance at the Olympics is what sold me that he can still win another grand slam.

He also has historically crushed at this event. That didn’t change when he won it all for a 10th time in 2023, and it honestly wasn’t so different when he came pretty close again in 2024.

Novak is certainly getting closer to the “don’t bet on” territory when looking at his career, but I’m not there with him yet. Factor in his steal of a price, and I feel pretty good about backing the Serb at least one final time.

Bet: Novak Djokovic (+275)
