Despite the Super Bowl being over and done with, March is an exciting time for football fans as the new league year officially begins and NFL teams start to assemble the building blocks for the upcoming season. Not only does this include designating franchise or transition tags on players, it’s also when NFL Free Agency begins.
This year, there are a number of star players entering Free Agency or available via trade. In fact, as we inch closer to the start of the new league year, it seems like more players are becoming available or making demands that could have them shipped out.
Let’s break down the swirling NFL Free Agency rumors, analyze the latest NFL prop bets, and make some NFL Free Agency predictions on where these stars could end up playing in the 2025-26 NFL season.
What Is NFL Free Agency?
NFL Free Agency refers to a period of time where players with expiring contracts can begin negotiating with other teams. And, if a deal is struck, these players can sign with new teams.
However, there are a few different types of free agent categories that players fall into:
Unrestricted Free Agents: players with expired contracts that have accrued at least four seasons. They are allowed to sign with any team that they choose.
Restricted Free Agents: players with expired contracts that have accrued three seasons. Original teams can extend qualifying offers to these players (RFAs).
However, these players are allowed to negotiate with new teams during Free Agency period. Yet, the original teams have the right to match that contract or receive draft compensation depending on the level of qualifying offer. Deadlines for RFAs are one week prior to the NFL Draft.
Exclusive Rights Free Agents: players with expired contracts that have accrued seasons or less. Original teams can extend them a qualifying offer, which then means that these players must either accept the deal or sit out the season.
Undrafted Free Agents: eligible collegiate players that weren’t selected in the NFL Draft. They’re free to sign with any team and usually begin negotiations as soon as the draft ends.
When Does NFL Free Agency Start?
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 4pm ET, the new league year begins and the NFL Free Agency officially starts. However, prior to this date, the NFL allows a Negotiation Period from March 10th up until the Free Agency period begins.
This Negotiation window allows teams to talk about contracts with players that are going to become Unrestricted Free Agents. However, even if both sides agree to terms, a contract cannot be signed until the Free Agency period begins.
Additionally, when the new league year begins, NFL teams become eligible to make trades after all 2024 contracts have expired.

NFL Free Agency Predictions
Check out our NFL free agency predictions for the following players:
Deebo Samuel Next Team (If Not 49ers)
- Washington Commanders (+300)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+400)
- Carolina Panthers (+500)
- Denver Broncos (+600)
- New England Patriots (+700)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+800)
- Las Vegas Raiders (+1000)
- Los Angeles Rams (+1200)
It looks like Deebo Samuel’s time in San Francisco has come to an end. Not only have they given Samuel permission to seek potential trade partners, reports have come out saying that the 49ers might end up cutting the talented receiver if they can’t trade him:
“I don’t anticipate that the 49ers will get a lot for Samuel because he is also going to have to need to be extended. And it’s pretty clear that the 49ers will likely have to cut him if they don’t trade him, so they really don’t hold much leverage here.”
Samuel is 29-years-old, and will want a new contract or to have the current one extended by any new team. However, when given enough touches, Samuel is still a game-changing talent that could help any Super Bowl contender.
At this point, the 49ers would take pretty much whatever reasonable offer they could get. So, don’t let their public posturing fool you here. The relationship between Samuel and the team is damaged to the point where a divorce is the only choice.
If Samuel has any leverage in decide where he wants to go, then I don’t see any scenario where he would talk to the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots or Las Vegas Raiders. These teams are all at the bottom of the barrel and Samuel will most likely want to be on a contending team.
I don’t see the 49ers trading Samuel within the NFC West, so you can cross the Los Angeles Rams off the list. Additionally, I don’t see a scenario where the 49ers agree to trading a weapon to the Washington Commanders, especially considering that San Francisco will be challenging the Commanders for the NFC Championship.
The most realistic options are the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers. All three of these teams could use a player like Samuel on the offensive side of the ball. Of these three teams, I like the Steelers to make the most compelling offer to land Samuel.
Pittsburgh is void of offensive talent outside of George Pickens. They desperately need another talented receiver. The same could be said about the Chargers, but they seem to be building through the draft along with the Broncos.
The Steelers are a franchise that wants to get back to challenging for Super Bowls, not just making the Playoffs, which were moral victories for Denver and Los Angeles. I also think Pitt’s +800 odds offers plenty of betting value.
Samuel’s style of physical football is the perfect fit for the Steelers’ brand.
Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers (+800)
Cooper Kupp Next Team (If Not Rams)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+300)
- Buffalo Bills (+350)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+500)
- Denver Broncos (+600)
- Cincinnati Bengals (+800)
- Washington Commanders (+800)
- New England Patriots (+1200)
- Green Bay Packers (+1400)
- Dallas Cowboys (+1600)
- Baltimore Ravens (+1800)
It’s hard to believe that the Los Angeles Rams are going to part ways with Cooper Kupp. The star wide receiver has been one of the faces of the franchise for the past few years, including during their Super Bowl victory a few seasons ago.
Whispers of Kupp playing his last game in LA started popping up in the Playoffs. Yet, it was actually Kupp who confirmed this with the following tweet:
“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.”
These comments apparently upset the Rams organization, most likely because it removes any leverage they might have had prior to the comments. With that said, the rumored asking price for Kupp is a fourth-round pick just like with Keenan Allen last year.
Every Playoff-caliber team should be beating down LA’s doors to get Kupp for that price. Additionally, the Rams are expected to eat some of Kupp’s salary in order to make this deal happen.
For a team like the Chargers, who are the odds-on favorite in this prop bet, it makes little sense to bring in Kupp who pretty much plays the same role as McConkey.
The same can be said about Buffalo. They have Khalil Shakir who does a lot of the same things that Kupp does. The Bills need more of an outside threat, not Kupp. Same with Green Bay and so on.
With that said, I really like the Dallas Cowboys in this prop bet. Dallas is the one team that could use a solid #2 receiver like Kupp. He could definitely help alleviate the double coverage on Lamb, while also providing Dak Prescott with another reliable weapon.
At +1600 odds, Dallas is too good to pass up here.
Bet: Dallas Cowboys (+1600)
Aaron Rodgers Team (If Not Jets)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (-180)
- Las Vegas Raiders (+110)
- Los Angeles Rams (+800)
- Tennessee Titans (+1200)
- Cleveland Browns (+1200)
- New York Giants (+1600)
- Indianapolis Colts (+1600)
- New Orleans Saints (+1800)
- Minnesota Vikings (+1800)
The Aaron Rodgers soap opera will take over the Free Agency period until he signs somewhere. Rodgers was dumped by the New York Jets after one mediocre year. Sure, it wasn’t all Rodgers fault with the on-field product. However, his salary combined with his personality made it easy for the Jets to move in a different direction.
Rodgers is in the twilight of his career but could still help a Playoff contender. Well, that’s if he can keep his ego in check and that the team has the optimal supporting cast to protect Rodgers and get open for him.
So, that basically rules out the Raiders, Titans, Browns and Giants. All of these teams are a few years away from making the Playoffs. I don’t see the Saints or Vikings saddling their franchises to Rodgers for a year or two.
The Colts need to keep building up Richardson and not prevent his development with the addition of a one-year rental in Rodgers.
There really is only one option for Rodgers, if he wants to play for a contender. And, that’s the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both of last year’s QBs (Wilson and Fields) are free agents.
The front office would have to decide if Rodgers is better than Wilson at this stage of their careers. It would be smart of them to bring back Fields as the backup QB. However, it’s questionable as to whether or not Rodgers is a true upgrade over Wilson.
With that said, I do see Pittsburgh being desperate enough to go down this route and then get a new QB in two seasons. One team to keep an eye on as a sleeper, is the Los Angeles Rams. You can read more about that situation further below, in our Matthew Stafford section.
Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers (-180)
Davante Adams Team (If Not Jets)
- Buffalo Bills (+250)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+400)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+500)
- Washington Commanders (+600)
- San Francisco 49ers (+700)
- Green Bay Packers (+900)
- Denver Broncos (+1000)
- Los Angeles Rams (+1000)
- New England Patriots (+1200)
- Dallas Cowboys (+1400)
With the Jets announcing that they won’t bring Rodgers back, it’s widely assumed that New York will do the same thing with Davante Adams. The talented receiver came to New York via trade last season after demanding to be shipped out of Las Vegas. He grew tired of the team’s futility.
The Jets will be in a similar position as the Raiders were, by going through a rebuilding year. And, the only way the team would keep Adams is if he took a pay cut. There’s absolutely no reason for Adams to take a pay cut to stay on a losing team.
The Jets have no leverage here, and I’m sure that Adams would make any trade attempt a difficult one unless it was to a Playoff team that he approves of. And, no team would give what the Jets are asking because they could just wait until the team cuts him.
I would imagine that most Playoff teams in need of a receiver, would be lining up to sign Adams once he’s free and clear. That’s why you see the Bills and Steelers as the favorites.
If Rodgers ends up a Steeler, would Adams follow him there? Buffalo was interested in Adams before, and I see the Bills showing interest again. However, the money would have to make sense.
I think the best option for Adams would be the Green Bay Packers. He could return to a team and franchise that would welcome him with open arms. Keep in mind, running back Josh Jacobs said what everyone is thinking – the Packers need a #1 receiver.
They have plenty of talent to support franchise QB Jordan Love, but they don’t have that #1. Adams still has a season or two left as being a #1 receiver and it could be a sweet reunion for both sides if he goes back there.
I would also keep an eye on where Rodgers ends up. I wouldn’t rule out the Steelers as a landing spot for Adams if Rodgers signs there.
Bet: Green Bay Packers (+900)
Myles Garrett Next Team (If Not Browns)
- Dallas Cowboys (+300)
- Washington Commanders (+500)
- Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
- San Francisco 49ers (+800)
- Las Vegas Raiders (+900)
- Philadelphia Eagles (+900)
- Buffalo Bills (+1000)
- Green Bay Packers (+1200)
- Detroit Lions (+1400)
A few weeks ago, one of the league’s premier defensive players finally made a trade demand to get out of Cleveland. Although Myles Garrett loves and appreciates Cleveland, he wants to win and the Browns organization is not going to make that happen anytime in the near future.
Garrett made the following comments about his trade demands:
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
So, what will teams have to give up for a future HOF defensive lineman still in his prime?
For starters, they will have to give up at least two high draft picks, most likely two firsts or a first and a second. Additionally, the team pursuing the trade would need to extend Garrett who has two years, $40 mil left on his deal.
Without going into detail about every betting option for the Myles Garrett sweepstakes, let’s just focus on the most likely teams to land the defensive end: Washington Commanders (+500) and Buffalo Bills (+1000).
The Commanders came out of nowhere last season. They were supposed to be a rebuilding team but shot all the way up to the NFC Championship game where the fell to the Eagles. However, this team has proven that they have a strong foundation to be a contender this year as well.
Washington is the second odds-on favorite to land Garrett, just behind the Cowboys. There’s no way that Dallas can afford both Garrett and Parsons. So, let’s just kill that pipe dream now.
The Commanders could use an upgrade at defensive end and have nearly $80 million in salary cap space for 2025. So, they certainly have the money to afford a new deal for Garrett.
The Buffalo Bills need a defensive end more than any other position. In fact, this is something they have been trying to acquire since signing Von Miller to a massive deal a few seasons ago. The Miller experiment didn’t work out and he’s most likely getting cut this offseason.
The Bills have moves they can make to free up more cash. It will be a game of musical chairs, but Brandon Beane is a maestro at this. Additionally, Buffalo has a first and two second round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Buffalo is one team that could win the Super Bowl by trading for Garrett. They know it, Garrett knows it, and the rest of the league knows it.
Bet: Buffalo Bills (+1000)
Tee Higgins Next Team (If Not Bengals)
- Denver Broncos (+400)
- Washington Commanders (+500)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+600)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+600)
- New England Patriots (+700)
- Green Bay Packers (+700)
- Tennessee Titans (+900)
- Buffalo Bills (+1000)
- San Francisco 49ers (+1400)
- Dallas Cowboys (+1800)
The Cincinnati Bengals are in trouble this offseason. With $50 mil in cap space, they must find a way to sign Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Trey Hendrickson and Mike Gesicki. There’s no way they can make this happen. And, would they really franchise Higgins just to keep him?
Cincy has some young receivers behind Chase and Higgins that could fill some of the void if the latter leaves. Chase is the top priority in this group. And, then Cincy should prioritize Hendrickson. They need even more help on defense, so there’s no way they should risk losing their top defensive player.
Anyone of these teams listed as a betting option could use Higgins. With that said, we touched on the Washington Commanders in the Garrett prop bet above. I really like them as Higgins landing spot.
With $80 million in salary cap, and a need to put as many weapons around franchise QB Jayden Daniels, adding Higgins is an absolute no-brainer. The Commanders could outbid the competition in any free agent bidding war.
Additionally, they could also throw a first and third for Higgins if the Bengals try to franchise and trade the talented receiver. There are plenty of options for Washington to land Higgins. One thing is for sure, adding more talent on offense is top priority for this team.
Bet: Washington Commanders (+500)
Sam Darnold Team (If Not Vikings)
- Las Vegas Raiders (+200)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+250)
- Minnesota Vikings (+350)
- New York Jets (+600)
- New York Giants (+800)
- Tennessee Titans (+1400)
What a remarkable season Sam Darnold had for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024-25. He led the Vikings to a 14-3 record, broke records, and earned his first Pro Bowl appearance. However, the former New York and San Francisco quarterback is now a free agent and the Vikings have some big decisions to make.
Publicly, Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell was non-committal on the QB situation:
“I think a lot goes into it. We haven’t made that decision yet. I talked to really all three, you know, both JJ [McCarthy], and J.J.’s here every day, but I talked to Sam [Darnold] yesterday for a long time, talked to Daniel Jones for a long time. I just want those guys to know that there’s an element in this where our relationship matters.”
The Vikings drafted JJ McCarthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, the rookie missed the entire regular season due to a knee injury. But he did flash potential in the preseason. Minnesota also swooped up Daniel Jones after the New York Giants cut him last December.
So, it makes little sense to keep Darnold when you have those two QBs on the roster. Yet, it makes even less sense to let Darnold go for nothing.
Viking’s receiver Justin Jefferson is lobbying for Darnold to return:
“Having 14 wins in this league is not easy. To bring us to a playoff game to win 14 games and only lose three, that’s something difficult to do. I wouldn’t mind having him back in the building. Of course, I feel like J.J. is going to have his opportunity and his chance, but I would love to have Sam back and see if he can do it again.”
I think all of Minnesota would love to see Darnold run it back. Yet, even if he returns to the Vikings, it won’t be for more than two years. Additionally, he already has a replacement waiting for a slip up or injury to occur. Plus, Minnesota won’t be able to pay Darnold what other teams would.
What Darnold did last year should parlay into a big payday for him this offseason. And, the one team that could really benefit from Minnesota’s blunder is the Las Vegas Raiders.
Here’s a team in a full rebuild with new faces from ownership down to the coaching staff. They do have a high draft pick this year, but it’s no guarantee that they can get one of the top collegiate quarterbacks.
What is a guarantee is that Darnold could improve this team. And, for an offense that was one of the worst in the NFL last year, the Raiders desperately need an upgrade at QB.
I see Darnold cashing in on his success from last year since Minnesota is unable or unwilling to give him the contract he’s looking for. And, the Raiders are the one team that would shell out a ton of money to a QB that had one good year.
Bet: Las Vegas Raiders (+200)
Matthew Stafford Next Team
- Stays at Los Angeles Rams (-200)
- Las Vegas Raiders (+300)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+500)
- Minnessota Vikings (+700)
- New York Jets (+600)
- New Orleans Saints (+1100)
- San Francisco 49ers (+1200)
- Cleveland Browns (+1400)
The Los Angeles Rams are at the center of numerous rumors that have LA fans in an uproar and other teams chomping at the bit.
We already discussed Cooper Kupp above and all of the issues stemming around the team wanting to trade the 30+ receiver. Well, things are buzzing around Matthew Stafford as well. Apparently, the Rams are growing tired of aspects surrounding Stafford. Additionally, they don’t want to pay him the money he’s asking for or the market dictates.
Apparently, the Rams are asking for a haul when it comes to trading Stafford. Colin Cowherd detailed what the Rams are demanding the New York Giants send back in a Stafford trade:
“What the Rams want, I am told, they want the Giants’ first-round pick at No. 3. So they probably want a first, a second, a first, a third, but you’ve got to pay Stafford if you’re the Giants. You have to give him a new deal. They’ll probably get a first and a fourth, but let’s just talk about that No. 3 pick. The Rams want that No. 3 pick in the draft because they’re drafting way later. They want to take that pick, move down, and get more picks.”
Trading Stafford goes beyond just acquiring picks and getting out from his contract. The Rams don’t want to commit to more money. Additionally, they feel like Aaron Rodgers would be cheaper and a bridge to their future QB.
That future QB is expected to come from the 2026 NFL Draft as most pundits believe that will be a stronger QB class than this year’s crop. And, they’re 100% correct.
So, basically, the Rams want to trade Stafford, free up cap space, acquire draft picks, trade said picks to move down and acquire more picks in 2026 for that desired quarterback, and sign Aaron Rodgers via free agency.
That’s far too many moving pieces to make a Stafford deal work. Why would the Giants trade all of those picks for Stafford when they can sign someone like Wilson or Rodgers for less money and keep all of their draft picks. New York has the no. 3 pick in the draft. They can get a franchise player or draft one of the two top QBs instead.
Los Angeles made this bed; they will have to lay in it. I’m picking Stafford to stick with the Rams on a team-friendly deal. However, if they somehow pull off this deal that Cowherd outlined above, then you have to give this team a ton of credit. Almost as much credit as everyone gave them when they traded for Stafford in the first place.
Bet: Stays at Los Angeles Rams (-200)
