2024-25 NFL Most Points Scored Odds and Predictions

The NFL has turned into a passing league. Thanks to that, there are a lot more points on the board and the games are often quite entertaining.

Points lead to wins and when you start stacking victories, deep playoff runs are no longer pipedreams. Of course, for sports bettors, sometimes all points mean is a path to a converted bet.

Naturally, when the most NFL points scored odds dropped, I instantly had to start gauging which team was the best bet to hit for this market. There are actually several teams that could lead the NFL in scoring in 2024. But which ones should you bet on? Join me as I look at the latest odds and come to a prediction.

On the flip side, we’ll also take a look at the latest NFL prop bet that examines which team will score the least amount of points. It’s quite the compare and contrast of NFL offenses this season.

The Dallas Cowboys paced the league in scoring a year ago, and they’re among the top betting favorites to do so again.

Dallas isn’t the overall favorite, though. It’s actually two teams, with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers sharing the title of favorite.

Check out the odds to see how each team stacks up at the top online betting sites.

There are more NFL betting odds for this market at Bet365 and other sites, but the teams above are certainly your best options.

Detroit finished fifth in scoring in 2023, and they’re pegged to jump to first overall in scoring this year. They certainly are capable of doing that, but they’re a somewhat surprising favorite.

They’re not alone, though, as San Fran also has +600 odds to lead the NFL in scoring.

Four teams in all have odds at +900 or better, so this is a fairly wide open race. In fact, another 10 teams are priced with +2000 odds or better.

The lack of a clear favorite makes this a tough betting market to predict, but there’s also a ton of value to obtain. Let’s gauge the best way to do that by breaking down the top contenders to lead the NFL in scoring this season.

Why Are the Lions and 49ers Co-Favored to Score the Most Points in 2024?

Nobody would balk at the 49ers as a threat to pace the NFL in scoring, but the Lions are at least a mild surprise. Perhaps they shouldn’t be, though.

This was last year’s NFC Championship game matchup, after all, while both of these offenses finished inside the top five in points scored.

The 49ers finished higher (third) with 491 points on offense, as Christian McCaffrey enjoyed what arguably should have been an NFL MVP season.

Health is probably going to be the deciding factor for how you bet on San Francisco. As things stand, they feel like a fairly risky bet. The team might trade star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk out of town, and C-Mac is already hurt.

Rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been on the injured list twice since being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, too.

On paper, the 49ers are an offensive juggernaut. They make perfect sense as a favorite to score the most points in the NFL. They simply need to keep their talent on the field.

Detroit is plenty talented, but they’re not quite as impressive as the Lions. They did put up 27.1 points per game in 2023, however, and at the moment they’re the healthier team.

I’d still favor San Francisco for this wager, but the Lions are certainly in play.

Top Contenders to Lead the NFL in Scoring This Year

You already have two solid contenders in the Lions and 49ers, but they share the same price and there are superior odds to be had.

There’s also more teams with high scoring potential. I could list several, but I’ll go over the three I like the most for this wager.

Kansas City Chiefs +900

KC isn’t one of the co-favorites to have the most points scored in the NFL this year, but they probably should be.

Sure, KC took a step back offensively in 2023, but they still have Patrick Mahomes running the show, as well as stud tight end, Travis Kelce.

Not only that, but the Chiefs have added some explosive talent, with Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy now part of their passing attack. And don’t forget about second-year wideout Rashee Rice, who made a huge impact as a rookie last season.

There’s no doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs are more talented on offense now than they were a year ago. If you also consider where they were in 2022 (top scoring offense), the writing is on the wall; the Chiefs are in for a scoring rebound in 2024.

Whether or not they actually lead the NFL in points scored is open for debate. But an offense with Patrick Mahomes leading the charge just improved. That’s not something to sniff at.

Philadelphia Eagles +900

If there is an NFL team that can go undefeated in 2024, I think it’s the Philadelphia Eagles. To be fair, there is seemingly some bad blood in the City of Brotherly Love, but I might just have to ignore it.

Philly comes in with interesting +900 betting odds, which feels like a bargain considering Philly has done well the past two years. They finished 7th in scoring last year, and were second to only the Chiefs in points scored the year prior.

It’s true that there can be limitations to Philly’s offense if you take away their ground game, but with the arrival of Saquon Barkely, doing that is more difficult than ever.

With A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith being nearly impossible to hold down every week, the Eagles have developed into a multi-faceted team that isn’t easily defended.

Jalen Hurts questions aside, the Eagles have a potent offense that should be well within the top 10 in scoring. Getting themselves within striking distance is step one, and Barkley’s presence just might get them to the top spot in 2024.

Dallas Cowboys +1000

Let’s stay in the NFC East, simply because Dallas led the way with the most points in the NFL last year. It’s not entirely crazy to think their pass-happy ways could lead to a ton of scoring yet again in 2024.

Dallas definitely took a step back in terms of their running game. They allowed Tony Pollard to leave in free agency, and now something called a Rico Dowdle might be their only answer on the ground.

Heck, they even went back to their ex and brought back Ezekiel Elliott.

That part of their offense isn’t looking promising, but the connection between Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb remains this team’s bread and butter. Assuming that doesn’t go in the toilet, the Dallas Cowboys should be able to put up plenty of points once again this season.

The risk of them not being able to lead the NFL in scoring twice in a row is baked into their price. Given how they’ve played in recent years, they’re a gamble worth taking.

Best Value Bet to Score the Most Points in the NFL in 2024

There is honestly so much value with this betting market. The Green Bay Packers finished 12th in scoring last year and should take a big leap. They look very appealing with their +1400 odds.

I also really like the Houston Texans at +1400. CJ Stroud and co. were dangerous in his first season, and they added Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon this off-season. They’re very much in play, too.

However, if you want legit betting upside, I think the team with the best price is the Atlanta Falcons.

Atlanta has the softest schedule in the NFL this season, and their offense could take off now that they finally have a legit quarterback

Adding Kirk Cousins gives them a completed puzzle offensively. There are question marks when it comes to coaching and their defense, but there’s little doubt that this offense should hum.

Cousins led the Minnesota Vikings to the league’s seventh most points in 2022, and he arguably has a better overall supporting cast around him in ATL.

The Dirty Birds are reasonable bets to make a Super Bowl run, too, but it might make more sense to simply bet on them putting up a ton of points.

Which NFL Team Will Score the Most Points in 2024-25?

It’s important to realize that the NFL team with the most points scored isn’t always the best team. Everyone saw that pretty easily last year, when the Cowboys put up 509 points and instantly lost in the playoffs.

Dallas was obviously very good offensively, though, and when betting on this market, you need to consider talent and upside.

The Cowboys are again a threat, but I don’t love the step back they are taking on the ground. With a lack of balance, it wouldn’t be all that shocking if they actually struggled a bit in 2024.

You could make very strong cases for a lot of teams to lead the NFL in scoring. Detroit, San Francisco, and so many others have legit top-5 offenses with limitless potential.

If you’re looking for one key criteria that correlates with the most points, it’s probably passing touchdowns. Looking back, the league leader in passing scores is usually attached to the NFL’s highest scoring offense.

I’d start by looking at quarterbacks capable of leading that high-powered of an offense, and then also trying to maximize your betting value.

I think the team that offers the best package is the Kansas City Chiefs.

It never feels bad to confide in Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. They put up the most points in the NFL in 2022, and even in a down 2023 season, they were still ranked 15th.

Kansas City will have a target on their back, but they also improved their passing game quite a bit. That’s music to Mahomes’ ears, and I expect them to get back to putting up serious points this season.

Fortunately, you can get them at a palatable +900 to do so.

Bet: Kansas City Chiefs +900

This betting market was supposed to be about all of the upside we get to see in the NFL. Chicks dig the long ball, after all, and they surely like more points, as opposed to not very many.

As it turns out, that isn’t just something the ladies like. It’s also for the dudes, and if you’re not putting up points, then you’re losing viewers.

Regardless, someone has to finish last. There are some pretty pathetic offenses out there, and you can benefit from them at online sportsbooks. Just check out the odds for which NFL team will score the fewest points this season.

I could keep listing odds for who will score the least NFL points, but as you move up, it just seems really unlikely any of those teams would deliver.

The New England Patriots are a worthy favorite. They don’t yet have an answer under center, and they’re kicking off a new era with rookie head coach Jerod Mayo. Whether it’s Drake Maye or Jacoby Brissett starting at quarterback, there’s little to be excited about when it comes to the Pats.

The Denver Broncos are another team that could see a first-year signal caller at some point. In fact, most of the teams in danger of scoring the fewest NFL points in 2024 are going to be a bit wet behind the ear under center.

Of the crop, the best value has to be the Carolina Panthers. Bryce Young wasn’t good last year, and the Panthers didn’t get that much better on offense. At +900, they’re as good of a bet as any team.

Backing the Panthers to stink up the joint only makes sense, seeing as they’re also my favorite bet to go 0-17 this year.

Bet: Carolina Panthers +900

Highest Scoring NFL Teams Ever

Sometimes to know where to go, we need to look back. There have been some insanely productive NFL offenses, so perhaps it could be helpful to see how they’ve fared.

The Denver Broncos own the best NFL scoring season of all-time, and it hasn’t been truly challenged in some time. In addition to trying to predict which NFL team will score the most points this year, it’s possible you could run into a sportsbook that asks if this record will be broken.

I doubt that happens, but you may benefit from inspecting the teams that scored the most NFL points throughout history.
