2024-25 NFL Perfect Season: Odds on a 17-0 Record

The 2024 NFL season is almost here, which means you need to finalize your NFL futures. The second week one kicks off, a litany of fun bets go out the window.

One of them is betting on perfect NFL season odds. You can go either way on that one, too, as there are also odds for whether anyone will go winless in 2024.

This post is about perfection, though. Not absolute failure.

Both are fun to bet on, to be sure, but it’s much more fun to think about a glorious run that ends with no losses. The 2007 New England Patriots almost got it done, but there’s still just one NFL team that ran the table throughout the entire year.

You don’t need your bet to win the NFL title, though. They just need to go 17-0 during the regular season. Still a tall ask, I know. That said, I’ve got you covered, as I’ll look at the latest odds to go undefeated in the NFL, and offer my favorite pick to get it done in 2024.

The NFL has made it even more difficult to realize a perfect season after adding a 17th game. If the league adds an 18th game, it’ll be virtually impossible.

However, teams have gone perfect before, and it can still happen again. Here are the teams with the best odds at online betting sites.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the top favorite to go 17-0 this year. That makes sense, seeing as they are the defending champs and have the best Super Bowl 59 odds.

Coming in with the second best NFL betting odds for this betting market are the Baltimore Ravens. They still have the reigning league MVP in Lamar Jackson under center, so it’s hard to refute the logic of putting them among the best priced teams.

There are few surprises here, but I’ll break down why the Chiefs are a solid bet, as well as which contenders could be worth backing beyond them.

If you’re thinking about how to approach this NFL betting market strategically, just think about stacked teams that have proven themselves to be viable title threats.

There are always a couple of teams that emerge seemingly out of nowhere, too, but looking back at previous undefeated NFL teams, they usually show signs of life before going on epic runs.

Also don’t forget that this bet isn’t for a Super Bowl win. You just need your picked team to go 18-0 during the regular season. With that, let’s first look at whether betting on the Chiefs to go undefeated makes sense or not.

Why Are the Chiefs Favored to Go Undefeated This Year?

Kansas City won it all last year and they’ve now won three titles in the Patrick Mahomes era.

They’ve literally appeared in four of the last five Super Bowls, and will be going for the rare three-peat if they can make it back to the big stage come 2025.

Before they get there, though, perhaps they can set themselves up for a truly remarkable season if they can win all of their regular season games.

What’s wild about the Chiefs is that they weren’t even that great in 2023. Despite having a very up and down offensive season, KC still won 11 games and leaned on a nasty defense to snag another championship.

Their defense should be good again, and the trio of Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce guarantees they’ll be at least competent offensively. There is serious optimism they could return to a very scary squad, though, as the team acquired Hollywood Brown and drafted speedster Xavier Worthy.

Rashee Rice improving in his second season could be another value add, assuming he avoids a lengthy suspension.

The good outweighs the bad here, and the Chiefs – despite having a target on their back – are the type of team that can blow anyone out and almost never gets housed.

Step one to going undefeated is being loaded with talent. Check. You also need exceptional coaching. Check. It doesn’t hurt if you’re in every game, either. KC can say yes to that as well.

The last thing I look at is strength of schedule. Kansas City’s division looks to once again be among the softest in football, and their SOS is a very passable 12th.

Oddly enough, KC does kick off 2024 with a tough home game against the Ravens, but they don’t have too many games in general where they’ll be the underdog.

Winning every game – even for the Chiefs – is a tall order. However, Kansas City’s +2500 odds as the favorite are pretty welcoming, and they probably have the best case to go 18-0 in 2024.

Top Contenders to Go 17-0 in the 2024 NFL Season

Kansas City is undeniably the best bet to go undefeated in the NFL this year, but they’re not the only dominant squad that is in play.

If you want even better odds for this market – but don’t want to sacrifice viable criteria – consider the following contenders.

Baltimore Ravens +4000

I’d take the Baltimore Ravens a lot more seriously for this wager if they didn’t have to travel to Kansas City to battle the defending champions in week one.

If Lamar Jackson and co. can get past KC to start the 2024 NFL season, however, they’re a decent bet to give an undefeated season a serious go.

The Ravens won 13 games a year ago en route to an MVP trophy for Lamar Jackson, and their already solid offense only got better with the addition of Derrick Henry.

Baltimore also has a stellar defense and elite coaching with John Harbaugh leading the charge, so there’s nothing tangible that tells you to doubt this squad.

I keep going back to the first game as being the biggest obstacle, while it’s certainly fair to admit that the AFC North isn’t exactly a cakewalk.

Baltimore’s style of play keeps them in games, but their passing game isn’t always on point. My guess is they get tripped up a handful of times again this year, but they’ll still be one of the best squads in the NFL.

If you think that’s enough to keep them in contention, you could hop on them with a slightly better price than the Chiefs.

San Francisco 49ers +4000

I am feeling less confident in the San Francisco 49ers as an undefeated team candidate by the day. It’s only fair, too, as star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is on trade watch and top offensive weapon Christian McCaffrey is already banged up.

Losing Aiyuk and/or not having a healthy C-Mac would eliminate the Niners from consideration, but if you’re betting on them you’re doing so assuming they’re at full strength.

San Francisco remains a well-oiled machine when they have all of their ducks in a row. Last year they made it to the Super Bowl on the heels of a 12-win season, and it’s quite arguable they should have had more victories than they ended with.

Despite all of their top shelf talent, a reasonably easy division, and a stellar coaching staff, San Fran hasn’t come all that close to realizing their true potential.

No titles to show for all of their effort and no legit sniffing of an undefeated season will leave a sour taste in the mouth of die hard fans. However, it’s still something they can hope for.

The Niners are a pretty awesome value at +4000, but I might wait a bit to see if recent movement (Aiyuk trade, etc) could make that price even better.

Philadelphia Eagles +10000

Of all the viable contenders to go 18-0 this year, the Philadelphia Eagles are the most appealing. In terms of price, talent, coaching, and past production, I’m not sure anyone looks better.

There’s no denying that the Eagles have their question marks. After a sensational 10-1 start to last season, they lost five of their last six games and backed into the playoffs.

Philly fell to a seemingly inferior Tampa Bay Buccaneers team in the playoffs, which for many, cemented them as a declining franchise.

Of course, Jalen Hurts was arguably not at full strength, and this team is loaded with talent. It’s also hard to completely write off a team that played in the Super Bowl as recently as two years ago.

Philadelphia has clear aspirations to bounce back. They have serious offensive talent, and showed their desire to improve by paying up for stud running back, Saquon Barkley.

The Eagles also have a loaded defense and an experienced coaching staff, giving them literally everything they need to make another title run in 2024.

But can they go 17-0?

I think they can. They started 10-1 last year, with their lone loss during that hot start coming by six points.

The Eagles were obviously even more dominant the year prior, when they went 14-3. It isn’t outlandish to think a return to form could be in the cards, especially with them playing in a weak division.

The NFC East still harbors bad teams in the New York Giants and Washington Commanders, leaving the Dallas Cowboys as Philly’s main obstacle.

Philly’s strength of schedule (9th easiest) also passes the eye test. They do start off the year in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers, but they’re equipped to handle the stiffest of tests.

Best Perfect NFL Season Value Bet for 2024-25

If you want the best overall value bet to go undefeated, it might be Philly. I do see them as a very real threat this year, though, so I’ll give you another team with some upside.

That’s none other than the Atlanta Falcons at +12500, who were already very competitive in 2023, but got a lot better across the board.

Atlanta fired head coach Arthur Smith, a move that was basically addition by subtraction. They also finally solved their woes under center, as they signed seasoned quarterback, Kirk Cousins.

The Dirty Birds have the talent with the likes of Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, and Drake London leading a star-studded offense.

Atlanta had some bad losses last year, but they were generally in most of their games. They won seven on the year, but in their 10 defeats, they were within a score six times.

Improved quarterback play and more stable decision-making from the sidelines could allow the Falcons to take a gigantic leap in 2024. Having the league’s softest schedule doesn’t hurt, either.

Atlanta plays in the very winnable NFC South, where they get the atrocious Carolina Panthers twice a year. If they can sweep their division, they could put themselves in position to go on a magical run.

Which NFL Team Will Be the Last to Lose a Game in 2024?

Before you can walk as a bettor, you need to crawl. That goes for virtually anything you’re trying to perfect in life, and it also applies to betting on a perfect NFL season.

If you think a team can go 17-0, I’d suggest first starting with this secondary betting market and gauge which team will be the last to lose in 2024.

Of course, the pricing is different from the NFL perfect season odds. The Detroit Lions have the best price for being the last undefeated team, for example, and they aren’t on my radar to go 17-0.

The odds you find will differ depending on where you bet, too. The NFL perfect season odds can be found at Bet365, for instance, while the pricing for this market is at BetUS.

As noted, some of this year’s contenders to nab a perfect NFL season meet some obstacles pretty early on. Kansas City and Baltimore face each other, the Eagles take on the Packers in week one, and so on.

The Falcons have the easiest week one battle of all the top threats, but the first few weeks still have them battle both the Eagles and Chiefs.

Ultimately, I’d align this bet with your top pick to go 17-0. An NFL perfect season is a big ask, but if you think a team is in contention for it, start with this market first. For me, that team is the Eagles.

Their price isn’t as good here as it is for a perfect NFL season, but it’s good enough.

Will a Team Have a Perfect NFL Season in 2024?

I doubt it. However, you can bet on a potential NFL perfect season, and there are actually quite a few teams who have the talent level and schedule to pull it off.

It’s a long, grueling season, though. Lot’s of injuries can derail even the best teams, organizations have to play some games at night or on short weeks, and that 17th game can be the difference between someone going undefeated or not.

A perfect 2024 NFL season probably isn’t coming, but this is still a fun flier bet. All of the teams discussed are viable, but the team that stands out the most to me is Philly.

The Eagles did lose veteran center Jason Kelce to retirement, but this is otherwise the same team that nearly won it all in 2022.

Philly has an explosive offense, an improved rushing attack, a strong offensive line, and an aggressive defense. They have literally everything needed to complete this impossible task.

The best part? You can get them at crazy +10000 odds at most online sportsbooks.

Past Teams That Have Had a Perfect NFL Record

The NFL only moved to a 17-game schedule recently, so no teams have yet achieved glory in  a season this long. Heck, only one team ever did it in a 16-game season.

Before that, the Miami Dolphins owned the best undefeated regular season (14-0) for decades.

There are other NFL teams to finish with a perfect regular season record, but they’re not held in high regard because they played in fewer games.

That said, here’s a look at the few teams to finish the regular season without a defeat or tie.
