Boxing continues to undergo changes on the Olympic level. For the 2024 Paris Olympics, the men’s boxing weight categories have been reduced to seven. In total, there are just 13 weight categories for the men’s and women’s boxing events.

The Paris Games’ boxing competitions are scheduled to run from July 27 to August 10. The preliminary rounds will be held at the Arena Paris Nord. The medal rounds will take place at Roland Garros Stadium.

If you are looking to bet on the Olympics, keep reading below as we dive into the latest Paris Games Men’s Boxing odds and make our Summer Olympics Men’s Boxing predictions.

Over the last few Olympic Games, the number of men’s boxing weight classes continue to decline. There used to be 12 weight classes, but that was paired down to eight at the Tokyo Games. Now, there will only be the following seven weight classes for the Paris Olympics:

  • 57kg (126 pounds)
  • 63.5kg (140 pounds)

Men’s 51kg

  • Hasanboy Dusmatov (UZB) +175
  • Amit Panghal (IND) +200
  • Saken Bibossinov (KAZ) +350
  • Roscoe Hill (USA) +700
  • Alejandro Claro (CUB) +1000
  • Nijat Huseynov (AZE) +1600

Hasanboy Dusmatov enters this competition as a small betting favorite. However, he does have plenty of experience as an amateur and a professional. The Uzbekistan fighter won gold at the 2016 Olympics, 2022 Asian Games, 2023 World Amateurs and a host of other events. He’s also 6-0 as a professional.

Amit Panghal is going to be a formidable threat to Dusmatov. Panghal won gold at the 2018 Asian games, 2022 Commonwealth Games, and 2019 Asian Championships. He’s also picked up an assortment of silver and bronze medals along the way. What’s missing is an Olympic medal, which he hopes to add this year.

France’s Billal Bennama (+2200) will have the hometown crowd behind him and comes into these Olympics having won gold at the 2022 European Championships, 2023 European Games, and silver at the 2023 World Championships. He could find a spot on the podium by time it’s all said and done.

For me, I lean towards Hasanboy Dusmatov in this weight class. I think he can outbox the other contenders and earn another gold medal for Uzbekistan.

Bet: Hasanboy Dusmatov (UZB) +175

Men’s 57kg

  • Abdumalik Khalokov (UZB) +300
  • Makhmud Sabyrkhan (KAZ) +300
  • Jahmal Harvey (USA) +400
  • Javier Ibañez Diaz (BUL) +500
  • Luiz Oliveira (BRA) +700
  • Yilmar Gonzalez (COL) +1000

Abdumalik Khalokov is one of the odds-on favorites for this weight class. He’s certainly earned the favorite status having won gold in the 2022 Asian Championships, 2022 Asian Games and 2023 World Championships. Makhmud Sabyrkhan also won gold at the 2023 World Championships and silver at the 2022 Asian Championships.

Right behind those two favorites is America’s best shot at a gold medal in the Paris Olympics – Jahmal Harvey. The American is coming off a gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games where he steamrolled the competition.

I’m a sucker for a good story and Harvey ending America’s medal drought in Olympic boxing is a story that I can get behind. Look for the American fighter to win a few close contests on his way to the gold medal.

Bet: Jahmal Harvey (USA) +400

Men’s 63.5kg

  • Sofiane Oumiha (FRA) -180
  • Ruslan Abdullaev (UZB) +350
  • Lasha Guruli (GEO) +550
  • Erislandy Alvarez (CUB) +1400

Sofiane Oumiha is the sizable betting favorite in a tough weight class that also features solid fighters like Lasha Guruli and Erislandy Alvarez.

With that said, Oumiha will be fighting in his home country and has a wealth of international, amateur success that includes a 2016 Olympic silver medal and three golds at the World Championships including last year. Oumiha also won the 2023 European Games gold medal as well. He’s also 5-0 as a professional with a bright future once he’s done on the amateur stage.

Oumiha is France’s best chance of winning gold in men’s boxing and I think he delivers.

Bet: Sofiane Oumiha (FRA) -180

Men’s 80kg

  • Oleksandr Khyzhniak (UKR) -115
  • Arlen Lopez (CUB) +300
  • Nurbek Oralbay (KAZ) +700
  • Toqtarbek Tanatqan (CHN) +1100

Oleksandr Khyzhniak is a sizable betting favorite having racked up gold medals on all levels of the amateur scene from Worlds to European Championships. Most recently, he won the 2023 European Games. The Ukrainian boxer won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and would love to capture gold in Paris.

Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening. I like Cuba’s Arlen Lopez to take the gold. He’s already won gold in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. Let’s also not overlook the fact that he easily plowed through the field at the 2023 Pan American Games to win another gold medal in that competition.

Just like his teammate Julio Cesar La Cruz, Lopez has brought honor and respect back to Cuba’s boxing program. I don’t see either man coming up short in Paris.

Bet: Arlen Lopez (CUB) +300

Men’s 92kg

  • Julio Cesar La Cruz (CUB) +150
  • Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine (ITA) +300
  • Lazizbek Mullojonov (UZB) +650
  • Loren Alfonso (AZE) +900

Cuba’s Julio Cesar La Cruz is the odds-on favorite to win the 92kg gold and it’s easy to see why. Sure, Italy’s Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine is going to be a threat, but Cruz is a two-time Olympic gold medalist having won gold at 81kg in 2016, and 92kg in 2020.

Adding to Cruz’s legacy is the fact that he won his fourth straight gold in the Pan Am Games, marking the first time any boxer has done that.

I really like what Mouhiidine brings to this tournament. The 25-year-old has already won gold at the 2022 European Championships and 2023 European Games. He was also the silver medalist at the 2021 and 2023 World Championships.

With that said, Julio Cesar La Cruz has a chance to etch his name in amateur boxing immortality by winning three golds and producing an amazing amateur record.

Bet: Julio Cesar La Cruz (CUB) +150

Men’s +92kg

  • Bakhodir Jalolov (UZB) -400
  • Teremoana Junior (AUS) +850
  • Kamshybek Kunkabayev (KAZ) +1000
  • Nelvie Tiafack (GER) +1600

It’s hard to imagine a world where Bakhodir Jalolov doesn’t win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. He is the reigning gold medal champ, after beating Richard Torrez via unanimous decision at the Tokyo Games. Since then, Jalolov went on to win gold at the 2022 Asian Games and the 2023 World Championships in the super heavyweight division. He’s also 14-0 as a professional.

Jalolov is not only the largest betting favorite in all of the men’s boxing events, but he’s also the top heavyweight prospect in the world.

Kamshybek Kunkabayev won the bronze medal in Tokyo and is Jalolov’s biggest rival. The two battled at the Asian Games where Jalolov won via majority decision. It’s a bit surprising that the result wasn’t a unanimous decision. With that in mind, Jalolov will punch his way to another gold medal.

Bet: Bakhodir Jalolov (UZB) -400
