On Saturday, February 22, Shake Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) returns to the ring for another WBC lightweight title defense as he takes on the unbeaten Floyd Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs).

This exciting lightweight title clash is on the undercard of the epic rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. In fact, the Stevenson vs. Schofield fight is just one of seven world title bouts taking place on this massive boxing PPV live from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Also on the card is a highly-anticipated semi-main event as Daniel Dubois puts his IBF heavyweight title on the line versus Joseph Parker. The winner is rumored to be the next opponent for Oleksandr Usyk.

Stevenson will fight for the first time since last Julye when he beat Artem Harutyunyan via unanimous decision. The undefeated American champ is expected to call out Gervonta Davis if he can win this weekend.

It should come as no surprise that the underdog Schofield feels disrespected by the brash Stevenson and is looking to pull off a big upset this weekend. Schofield last stepped in the ring three months ago and won via unanimous decision.

Let’s take a look at the latest Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield odds, courtesy of the top sports betting sites, and make our Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield predictions.

Shakur Stevenson Recent Fights

Shakur Stevenson is a three-division world champion and looking to become the best among the great lightweights in boxing today.

With that said, Stevenson has spent the last handful of years competing in the super featherweight and lightweight divisions.

After defeating Oscar Valdez in April 2022, Stevenson became the WBC and WBO super featherweight champion. Five months later, he took on Robson Conceicao but missed weight. Although he won the fight via unanimous decision, Stevenson was stripped of the titles due to not making weight.

So, he went up to the 130-pound weight class in early 2023, and beat Shuichiro Yoshino via 6th round TKO. He followed that up with a unanimous decision victory over Edwin De Los Santos in November 2023. That victory earned Stevenson the vacant WBC lightweight championship belt.

He defended that tile last July, when he beat Artem Harutyunyan via unanimous decision with the scores of 116-112, 118-110, 119-109. It makes you wonder what fight those judges were watching with such a wide array of scores.

Nevertheless, Stevenson’s performances over his last two fights lacked the excitement and shine that he showed moving up through the featherweight and super featherweight divisions.

Despite his lackluster performances over the last two years, Stevenson isn’t lacking for confidence. In fact, the vocal champ declares that he is the reason that everyone will tune into the PPV this weekend because he’s the best fighter on the card:

“No disrespect to them guys, but I’m the best fighter [on the card]. I’m what everyone wants to see on that card. A lot of people said they’re not going to wake up at a certain time [to watch the fight] and all that stuff. But everybody is going to be watching that sh-t. Everybody is going to want to see Shakur. A lot of people act like Shakur isn’t must-see TV, but I’m must-see TV. I’m the best fighter in boxing. Everyone wants to see me. Everybody wants to watch me. They’re going to keep paying attention.”

I spit out my drink laughing hard at this. Stevenson is out of his mind. ESPN has his fight as the least exciting bout on the card. Maybe if he fought better competition, his claims could be more accurate. But 90% of the fight fans are tuning in to see the main event rematch.

Shakur Stevenson Odds

Stevenson opened as a -850 favorite for this weekend’s bout and is currently sitting in a range of -800 to -1400 odds. In comparison, the champ opened as a -1800 favorite over Harutyunyan, -900 verus Edwin de Los Santos, and -1200 vs. Yoshino.

The last time that Stevenson’s odds were close was against Oscar Valdez in 2022. He opened as a -136 favorite and ballooned to a closing range of -400 to -850.

You would have to go all the way back to the 2016 matchup with Robeisy Ramirez to find the last time that Stevenson was an underdog.

That match was for the gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This means that Stevenson has spent his entire professional career as the betting favorite.

Floyd Schofield Recent Fights

Although Schofield is unbeaten in his career, he doesn’t have the big-fight experience that Stevenson has. But he has been very active over the last two years. During that span, the challenger has fought six times and won via a variety of methods.

Schofield fought four times in 2023 and split those victories via KO and decision. He beat Alberto Mercado and Haskell Rhodes via unanimous decisions. He also crushed Jesu Valentin Leon via 2nd round KO and Ricardo Lopez Torres via 1st Round TKO. In the latter fight, Lopez went down four times in round one.

In 2024, Schofield went 2-0 with a DQ win over Esteuri Suero in March. Suero was deducted points in rounds two and four before being disqualified for a low blow in round five.

In his last bout, Schofield beat Rene Tellez Giron via unanimous decision. Despite getting knocked down in Round 11 of that fight, Schofield still won by the scores of 116-111, 118-109, 118-109.

Despite his lack of big-fight experience, Schofield has displayed a calm confidence heading into this world title fight. In fact, Kid Austin is predicting a victory as he questions Stevenson’s mental strength:

“He’s going to get hit, and we’re going to see if he can take those hits, For a certain amount of time. Then I’m going to go home with his belt,” said Floyd when asked if Shakur can take his shots. “I just feel like he’ll break down mentally.”

Floyd Schofield Odds

From what boxing odds we can find, Schofield has been the betting favorite in all of those documented bouts. However, he is a big underdog for this weekend’s clash. Schofield opened at +560 odds and currently sits in a range of +550 to +750.

In his last fight, Schofield was a -1000 to -1300 favorite. Those odds have been the baseline for most of his documented lines. The biggest line he had came in 2022, when Schofield fought against Daniel Rosas and saw his line go as high as -20000 odds.

Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield Predictions

Yes, it’s true that Stevenson has looked lackluster in his recent fights. And, that’s not including when he missed weight a few years ago. So, it’s not as if Stevenson has been lighting up the ring with his performances.

With that said, Stevenson is still the better overall boxer in this contest. I give Schofield credit for taking a huge step up in competition and ignoring all of the criticism. On the flip side, I also think that Stevenson is taking a big step down in competition which is just another example of his lack of true greatness in the division.

Schofield likes to apply pressure and be aggressive on the offensive side of things. That will play right into Stevenson’s strengths. The champ is excellent in defensive fighting and fantastic at counterpunching.

I also expect Stevenson to find success inside on Schofield as the challenger comes in close to try and bully the champ.

I’m not a fan of Stevenson but I do respect his in-ring skills. Particularly when he’s motivated to put on a great performance and score a dominating victory.

With that said, the outcome of this fight will be determined by two things: Stevenson’s motivation and his counter punching.

Schofield’s aggressiveness and forward pushing could leave him open for Stevenson to find a great deal of success. Yet, if Stevenson puts it into cruise control, then we could see a snoozer.

Either way, Stevenson is levels above Schofield and will win this fight.

Bet: Shakur Stevenson (-1200)

The Best Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield Prop Bets

The following Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield prop bets are courtesy of BetUS:

Over/Under 10.5 rounds

  • Over 10.5 (-330)
  • Under 10.5 (+240)

It’s really hard to predict the Over/Under and the Distance prop bets. This is due to Stevenson’s motivation. With that said, I am going to take the chance and pick Stevenson to show up highly motivated to win convincingly on a stacked PPV card.

That means, I’m taking the Under. I like the value with the +240 odds and I think that Schofield’s style fits perfectly with Stevenson’s strengths.

Bet: Under 10.5 (+240)

Will Fight go the distance?

  • Yes (-275)
  • No (+200)

More than half of Stevenson’s fights have gone the distance. Additionally, he’s only had one TKO in his last six pro bouts. That came against Yoshino who was also severely outmatches just like the challenger is in this weekend’s title fight.

Since I am taking the Under, that means I am also going with this bout to end inside the distance. I like the value and I feel that Stevenson will be motivated enough to make a statement and then call out Gervonta Davis.

Bet: No (+200)

Method of Victory

  • Schofield via TKO/KO/DQ (+1800)
  • Schofield via decision (+1400)
  • Stevenson via TKO/KO/DQ (+210)
  • Stevenson via decision (-200)
  • Draw (+2500)

If you have connected the dots above, then you will see that I like Stevenson to win inside the distance and Under 10.5 rounds. That means I believe the champ will retain his belt via TKO/KO. It would mark the 11th KO of his career.

Schofield is outclassed and outgunned against an inspired Stevenson. Obviously, it’s a big “if” in regards to Stevenson being inspired and motivated. Since he’s fighting on a massive PPV and wants a big fight with Davis in the near future, I see Stevenson picking up the KO victory.

Bet: Stevenson via TKO/KO/DQ (+210)

Betting on Rounds

  • Either Winner in rounds 1-4 (+1400)
  • Either Winner in rounds 5-8 (+500)
  • Either Winner in rounds 9-12 (+500)
  • Fight To Go The Distance (-275)

Now, our attention can turn to when we think this bout will end. I believe it’s Under 10.5 rounds. I’m leaning towards rounds 5-8. I don’t think you can go wrong with that prop or rounds 9-12 option.

Either way, I see the bout ending inside the distance because I’m betting on Stevenson to come into this bout highly motivated despite rooting for the upset.

Bet: Either Winner in rounds 5-8 (+500)

What’s Next For The Stevenson vs. Schofield Winner?

As of this writing, it’s unclear as to what will happen next for the winner. Well, it’s uncertain for Stevenson’s immediate future if he wins. If Schofield wins, then you can expect an immediate rematch between the two.

However, the most likely outcome is a Stevenson victory whether it’s via KO or a boring decision result. Either way, it should put him in line for a big-time fight in the lightweight division.

The champ has already come out and stated he won’t fight Keyshawn Davis despite the latter picking up a win over Denys Berinchyk last week and earning the WBO lightweight title.

Now, the reason why they won’t fight isn’t because anyone is ducking the other. It’s due to the two champs being friends and not wanting to fight each other. And, that’s something I can respect.

The reality is, there’s only one fight to make next – Stevenson vs. Davis. These two men have played the war of words for years and need to finalize the rivalry and the answer the questions.

I would say the odds are not in favor of this match, but the fans and pundits will be calling for it. So, I won’t close the door on this possibility. However, I won’t hold my breath that it will happen.
