On Friday, November 15, “Iron” Mike Tyson returns to the boxing spotlight as he battles Jake Paul live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This fight will be streamed live on Netflix and was rescheduled from their original date of July 20 due to Tyson suffering from some health issues.
At first, this bout was going to be an exhibition fight just like the farces that Floyd Mayweather Jr. puts on. However, after some deliberations and financial incentives, Paul and Tyson agreed to make this a sanction professional bout.
On April 29, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations officially confirmed that this would be a professional fight that consists of eight 2-minute rounds. Additionally, both fighters would wear 14-ounce gloves.
A few weeks prior to that announcement, Netflix announced that they secured an epic co-main event fight as Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor would have their long-awaited rematch. The two fighters had an instant classic in 2022. This weekend’s bout will be for the undisputed lightweight titles currently held by Taylor.
As of this writing, there are seven bouts scheduled with the undercard portion of this event hosting five fights. The featured bout of the undercard is a WBC welterweight title fight as Mario Barrios defends his championship against Abel Ramos.

Mike Tyson Recent Fights
The last time we saw Mike Tyson in a boxing ring was the 2020 exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in the now defunct Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League.
The two boxing legends agreed to face each other in California for an eight-round exhibition bout. It was streamed live on PPV and was the highest selling PPV of the year. In fact, at that time, it even cracked the Top 10 most purchased PPV events of all-time.
The bout ended in a Split Draw. The three judges scored it 76-76, 79-73 for Tyson and 76-80 for Jones. Overall, this event received positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
That was a far cry from the 2006 Mike Tyson World Tour that ended after one bout due to how bad the exhibition fight was between Tyson and Corey Sanders. It was highly criticized as fans said Tyson was holding back. Ultimately, the negative backlash ended up forcing Tyson and company to cancel the rest of the tour.
Prior to this World Tour debacle, Tyson retired from professional boxing after a highly disappointing fight against Kevin McBride. Tyson quite before the 7th round started. He then retired shortly after, citing that he no longer had passion for the sport. He would also later admit to doping for the bout.
That was the third loss for Tyson in his final four fights, and his second in a row. Tyson lost via 4th round KO to Danny Williams in 2004, defeated Clifford Etienne via 1st round KO in 2003, and lost via 8th round KO to Lennox Lewis in 2002. The Lewis fight was his last professional bout where he competed for a world heavyweight championship.
For Tyson, he took this Paul fight as a challenge to step out of his comfort zone in addition to making a huge payday. However, he chose Paul due to Jake’s evolution as a fighter:
“I think he came a long way as a fighter. From when he first showed himself on the Roy Jones Jr. vs. Mike Tyson card [against NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Champion Nate Robinson], he built himself up to be quite of a sensation.”
Tyson believes that he will “finish” Paul in this fight. Fans are starting to buzz about the possibility of Tyson knocking out Paul. Yet, handicappers and sportsbooks are still leaning towards Paul winning the fight.
Mike Tyson Odds
Mike Tyson opened as a +240 underdog against Paul. Those odds have slowly declined but not by much. Tyson can still be found listed at a range of +175 to +220. The majority of online betting sites have Tyson around a +200 underdog.
Jake Paul Recent Fights
Jake Paul started his pro boxing journey with a YouTuber battle against Ali Eson Gib in January 2020. He defeated Gib via 1st round TKO. From there, Paul would tally five more victories in a row and was 6-0 before fighting Tommy Fury in February 2023.
Over that stretch, Paul would defeat Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley twice, and Anderson Silva. The first Woodley fight ended in a Split Decision. The rematch ended with Paul winning via 6th round KO. Paul would also beat Silva via unanimous decision.
However, he would suffer the first loss of his career when fighting Fury. Paul lost via split decision with the judges scoring the bout: 73-76, 75-74, 73-76.
After that fight, Paul would defeat Nate Diaz in August 2023, via 10-round unanimous decision. Judges scored the bout 97-92, 98-91, 98-91.
He would follow up the Diaz victory with two first-round KO wins against Andre August in December 2023, and Ryan Bourland in March 2024.
Then came an exciting matchup against Mike Perry where many fans thought the bare knuckle champ could beat Paul. Unfortunately for those fans and bettors, Perry lost via 6th round TKO after being knocked down in three of the six rounds.
That’s four wins in a row for Paul heading into this weekend clash against Mike Tyson. As for this upcoming bout, Paul made the following predictions:
“I think Mike is going to be strong, fast and come out like a bull. I’m going to have to weather the storm and outbox him. I think he’s going to get clipped because he has a lot of openings to land some big shots.”
Jake Paul Odds
Jake Paul opened as a -310 betting favorite over Mike Tyson. He currently sits at a range of -200 to -280 with many sportsbooks listing Paul around -260.
These odds are Paul’s lowest since he fought Tommy Furry in February 2023. Paul’s closing odds were listed at +120 to -165.
Following the Fury fight, Paul was a large betting favorite over Diaz (-300 to -550), August (-800 to -1100), Bourland (-2500 to -5000), and Perry (-400 to -525) according to Pro Boxing Odds.
Tyson vs. Paul Predictions
Predictions are all over the place when it comes to this fight. Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg is a good friend of Tyson and believes that his pal can score another knockout:
“I just hope nobody gets hurt. I used to always watch Mike, pay for pay-per-view and people would complain ‘oh it was just one round, it wasn’t worth the money!’ I always got my money’s worth watching him. Mike is a dear friend and hopefully he’s going to be healthy and he does that old Mike thing just one more time.”
Roy Jones Jr. detailed how getting hit by Tyson in their exhibition fight felt like a “mule had kicked him in the chest.” The boxing legend would go on to pick Tyson to beat Paul:
“If Mike is in shape enough to go the rounds he probably can put Jake out at any time. But of course at 58 or 59, however old he is his timing ain’t the same, so it’s quicker for him to get it over with fast rather than wait a long time.”
Paul has a five-inch reach advantage and is 30 years younger than Tyson. In most parts of the world, and in most fights, this would be considered highly unfair and inhumane. Yet, against Tyson, Paul’s advantages might still not be enough to win.
I will give credit to Paul for evolving as a fighter. This was something that I didn’t think would happen. Yet, he has shown some boxing skills for someone that didn’t set out to become a pro boxer in his younger days.
With that said, have you seen what shape Tyson is in? I don’t care if he’s 58. I’ve met Mike Tyson in person. I’ve seen his aura and the killer instinct in those eyes.
Tyson perfectly summed up the difference between Paul and himself. Honestly, nobody could’ve said it any better:
“There’s a fundamental difference between me and Jake. He’s a manufactured killer. Television and papers made him a killer. He’s manufactured. I’m a natural born killer.”
After that statement, I’m taking Mike Tyson to win this fight.
Bet: Mike Tyson (+220)
The Best Tyson vs. Paul Prop Bets
The following Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul prop bets are courtesy of BetUS:
Over/Under 10.5 rounds
- Over 5.5 (-250)
- Under 5.5 (+180)
Do you want to see this fight end quickly or see Paul suffer? The majority of social media voices are leaning towards wanting to see Tyson pummel Paul for several rounds.
I’m going to give Paul some credit and say that he will weather the early storm. But I think that will lead to the younger fighter becoming overconfident and getting caught.
I’m taking this fight to go Over 5.5 rounds as the sportsbooks have made it the large favorite for this contest. In previous bouts against skilled boxers (Perry, Diaz, Fury, Silva), Paul went beyond the 5.5 round mark. In fact, he went the distance in three of those four contests.
Bet: Over 5.5 (-250)
Will Fight go the distance?
- Yes (+160)
- No (-225)
I was all set to pick this bout to go the distance. Paul had done so against Diaz, Fury and Silva a few years ago. Paul proved that he could hang with skilled strikers for long durations of fighting. Although he lost via split decision to Fury, Paul still looked strong at the end of the fight.
With that said, I’m totally buying into the Tyson killing machine hype and taking this bout to end inside the distance.
Bet: No (-225)
Method of Victory
- Tyson via TKO/KO/DQ (+235)
- Tyson via decision (+1000)
- Paul via TKO/KO/DQ (+125)
- Paul via decision (+330)
- Draw (+900)
Like I just stated above, I was all set to take this fight to go the distance when first examining my bets for this contest. However, after examining things more, along with seeing the look in Tyson’s eyes when he declared that he’s a natural born killer, I’m not picking Tyson to hand Paul his first TKO/KO loss.
If Tyson can turn back the hands of time, then I think he will beat Paul via knockout, technical or otherwise. Tyson looks in great shape and has the killer look back in his eyes.
Bet: Tyson via TKO/KO/DQ (+235)
Betting on Rounds
- Tyson wins in Rounds 1-4 (+370)
- Tyson wins in Rounds 5-8 (+1100)
- Tyson wins via Decision (+1000)
- Paul wins in Rounds 1-4 (+370)
- Paul wins in Rounds 5-8 (+1100)
- Paul wins via Decision (+1000)
- Decision or Technical Draw (+900)
Since I am taking the Over 5.5 rounds, I believe Tyson will get the win in rounds 5 to 8. I think Paul weathers the early onslaught but Tyson’s power and pressure will eventually wear down the younger fighter. Ultimately, that mule kick will take the wind out of Paul and take his consciousness.
Bet: Tyson wins in Rounds 5-8 (+1100)
