On February 1, WWE will hold their annual Royal Rumble PPV. However, the night before, the promotion’s blue brand will hold their “go home” edition of SmackDown. As of this writing, there are a handful of matches confirmed for the show that emanates from the same city as the Royal Rumble – Indianapolis.
For those just tuning back into the WWE, SmackDown left FOX after five years and moved to USA Network in October 2024. WWE RAW, which was the promotion’s long running show on the USA Network, left cable television and began streaming on Netflix each week. Additionally, WWE SmackDown expanded their show to three hours beginning in January 2025.
The January 31 episode of SmackDown will be packed with last-minute action and storylines to further build the hype for Royal Rumble on Saturday night. So, you can expect more matches to be added all the way up to the start of SmackDown at 8pm ET on Friday night.
With that said, let’s take a closer look at the available WWE odds, courtesy of the top sports betting sites, and make our WWE SmackDown predictions.
WWE SmackDown Card
WWE Match | Favorite | Prediction |
---|---|---|
US Women’s Title Match | Chelsea Green (-350) | Chelsea Green (-350) |
Carmelo Hayes vs. Jimmy Uso | Carmelo Hayes (-190) | Carmelo Hayes (-190) |
Liv Morgan vs. Naomi | Liv Morgan (-140) | Liv Morgan (-140) |
Eight Man Tag Team Match | DIY & Pretty Deadly (-175) | MCMG & Los Garza (+125) |
As of this writing, the matches with available odds are all reasonably priced. Chelsea Green is the biggest betting favorite at -350 odds, but that’s not a line that represents a sure thing. The rest of the matches have odds even closer. In fact, there’s plenty of value with some of the underdogs as well.
WWE SmackDown Predictions
The following WWE SmackDown predictions are for the confirmed matches as of this writing:
US Women’s Title Match
- Chelsea Green (-350)
- Michin (+225)
On the January 24 episode of SmackDown, Michin actually pinned Chelsea Green in a tag-team match. Michin won the match for her team alongside B Fab as they took on Green and Piper Niven. That victory, and effort, led to the SmackDown brass rewarding Michin with a shot at the US Championship.
It was a nice bounce back for Michin who actually lost to Green in the finals of the United States Championship tournament at the December 2024 Saturday Night’s Main Event. Michin had defeated Piper Niven and Lash Legend in the first round of the tourney before upsetting Tiffany Stratton in the Semifinals.
Both women are listed as entrants into the Royal Rumble, so I expect each lady to show off their talents this Friday with the hopes of parlaying that into a strong performance at the Rumble.
With that in mind, I just don’t see the WWE removing the belt off of Green six weeks after she was crowned the inaugural champ. Whether it’s B Fab turning on Michin or outside interference, Green will find a way to win this match and retain the US Title.
Bet: Chelsea Green (-350)
Carmelo Hayes vs. Jimmy Uso
- Carmelo Hayes (-190)
- Jimmy Uso (+140)
These two men have had issues with each other for the last month. They fought on the January 17 episode of SmackDown and it was arguably the best singles match of Jimmy Uso’s career. With very little storyline heading into this bout, the two men put on an excellent bout.
Unfortunately, that match ended in a No Contest as The Bloodline interfered. A very disappointing outcome to a strong showing by both men.
On the January 24 episode of SmackDown, Hayes would sneak attack Uso ahs he was entering a match against Kevin Owens. Not only did this hurt Uso’s chances at a high profile showing, but it also extended the feud between the two men.
Now, they will face each other again on SmackDown and one can only hope that they will match the efforts from their bout two weeks ago. Additionally, I hope that we get a clean finish this time around as we don’t need The Bloodline interfering in every Uso match.
As for the winner, I’m taking Carmelo Hayes. I think a win over Jimmy Uso can help him more than the other way around. Uso will remain in an eternal feud with The Bloodline, while Hayes could use some notable wins to move up the ladder.
Bet: Carmelo Hayes (-190)
Liv Morgan vs. Naomi
- Liv Morgan (-140)
- Naomi (Even)
On the January 27 episode of RAW, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated the WWE women’s tag team champions Bianca Belair and Naomi.
The champs have held the titles since August 31, 2024, when they defeated The Unholy Union at Bash in Berlin. However, it was Belair and Jade Cargill that won the titles. Naomi replaced Cargill after she was injured in December.
After Liv Morgan lost the championship to Rhea Ripley following a lengthy feud, it seems that the WWE is positioning the duo of Morgan and Rodriguez as the next tag team champions.
This match between Naomi and Morgan is an extension of their tag match on RAW and a prelude to the inevitable tag-team title match between the two teams.
I see no reason for Naomi to win this match. Morgan was the world champ for half of 2024, and is a two-time runner up in the women’s Royal Rumble match. I believe she’s poised for the win this Friday, another strong showing in the Rumble, and to become tag team champ sooner than later.
Bet: Liv Morgan (-140)
Eight Man Tag Team Match
- DIY & Pretty Deadly (-175)
- MCMG & Los Garza (+125)
WWE Tag Team Champs DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johhny Gargano) will team up with Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) will face Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) and Los Garza (Berto & Angel).
In our Royal Rumble preview, I broke down the feud between DIY vs. MCMG as these two teams will face each other at the PPV for the tag titles. They’ve been feuding for the past few months.
The other two teams have been involved in their rivalry to some degree. However, this match is really just to get the teams into something that has meaning before the tag title match at the Rumble.
As for the winner, let’s take the underdogs here. I just don’t see MCMG losing both this match and at the Rumble.
Bet: MCMG & Los Garza (+125)
