Filip Petrusev confirmed he won't return to Gonzaga this fall, instead signing a contract with Mega Bemax in his native Serbia.

"New Beginnings," he tweeted Monday. "Can't wait."

Mega Bemax is based in Petrusev's hometown of Belgrade.

In the 2019-20 season, Petrusev was a key contributor for the Bulldogs, who were 31-2 on the season and 15-1 in West Coast Conference play. Gonzaga likely would have been a No. 1 seed had the NCAA Tournament been played.

Petrusev, 20, also remains entered in the NBA draft and has until Oct. 6 to withdraw.

The 6-foot-11 Petrusev played two seasons at Gonzaga. As a sophomore, he was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year after leading the Bulldogs in scoring (17.5 points) and rebounds (7.9).

As a member of Serbia's U18 team, he won two gold medals at EuroBasket.

Drew Timme and Oumar Ballo, both talented 6-foot-10 players, are expected to replace Petrusev.
