2020 EFL Championship Playoffs Betting Tips

The semi-finals feature two legs (home/away) The final is a single match with everything on the line and the match is commonly referred to as the “World’s Richest Game” because the winner receives promotion to the Premier League, which includes a huge injection of money.

Swansea were fortunate to make the playoffs. It looked like Nottingham Forest had the 6th position on the table locked up, but they fell apart in the final match of the season. They lost 4-1 to Stoke and Swansea defeated Reading 4-1, which gave Swansea a one-goal edge in goal differential.

The Swans used their momentum to win the first leg of their semi-final at home.

I predict Brentford will win the next leg at home and advance to the finals. You can bet on Brentford to win the second leg at –154 odds (BetOnline). Brentford dominated Swansea in league play this season – winning 3-1 at home in December and 3-0 away in October.

In the second semi-final, I predict Fulham will advance (-140 Odds at BetOnline).

Fulham and Cardiff drew their first match (1-1) this season in August, but Fulham just won the second H2H match (2-0) earlier this month (July 10th). The first leg is this afternoon (ET time) and I wouldn’t be surprised if this leg ended in a draw with Fulham winning the second leg at home.

In the final, my money will be on Brentford to earn Premier League promotion.

Brentford won both H2H matches against Fulham this season. They won 1-0 at home in December and 2-0 away in June. The final will be played at Wembley Stadium next week on neutral ground.
