The Detroit Lions have been one of the worst teams in football over the past two decades, as there have been many bad years. That has been the case of late for Detroit, but it has also allowed them to acquire some young talent.
Detroit is a member of the NFC North Division, and that division has been dominated by the Green Bay Packers. The Lions are a team on the rise, but they could still be a year or two away from being a division contender.

All three of the wins came in Week 13 or later, and that should give the Lions some momentum heading into the 2022 season.
Lions Key Losses Heading Into 2022
The Lions were not in a position to be able to lose talent from the 2021 season, and they weren’t hit as hard as some other teams in free agency. There are some players on both sides of the ball that are gone, but it shouldn’t have a big impact heading into 2022.
Linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin is arguably the biggest loss from 2021 as he signed with the Houston Texans. Wide receiver Khadarel Hodge and guard Will Holden are the biggest losses on offense.
2022 Detroit Lions Team Preview
The Detroit Lions should be able to take a big step on offense this season with the addition of wide receiver DJ Chark. Quarterback Jared Goff is capable of leading this team to a ton of wins in 2022, and the Lions will now be able to score right along with opponents.
The defense still has some holes, but that defensive line should also be dominant. Detroit will continue to be competitive in every game, but they now have the ability to win games late.
2022 Detroit Lions Schedule
Outside of playing six games against the NFC North Division opponents, the Lions will also play every team from the AFC and NFC East Divisions in 2022. That’s a pretty big break for the Lions as they are avoiding some of the toughest divisions in football.
The final three games on the schedule in 2022 include home games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks. Detroit will also make a trip to Carolina to face the Panthers in 2022.
2022 Lions Regular Season Win Total Prediction
The Lions are not going to be a serious playoff contender this season, but they do have enough talent to win some games. Detroit finally has talent on both sides of the ball, and they are already a team that plays hard.
Even getting to seven wins would be seen as a massive improvement for the Lions, and that’s exactly what will happen in 2022. Detroit will struggle to beat the great teams, but there are enough even matchups to get to seven wins.
