The Iowa Hawkeyes football program is not one that receives a ton of national attention, but all they do is win games. Iowa is consistently one of the top teams in the Big Ten West Division and are often ranked inside of the Top 10.
The Hawkeyes appeared to be on their way to a monster season in 2021 before ending the year with just ten wins. Expectations are a bit low entering the 2022 season for Iowa, but the betting odds still peg the 2022 as a successful season.

Last Season
The 2022 season for the Iowa Hawkeyes was interesting as it was successful with ten wins, but it could have gone a ton better. Iowa looked like a team ready to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff at one point, but the Hawkeyes ended up with two straight losses.
After getting blown out by Michigan in the Big Ten Championship Game, the Hawkeyes lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in the Citrus Bowl.
Hawkeyes Key Losses Heading Into 2022
The good news is that Iowa won’t be needing to replace many players from the 2021 season, but it wasn’t as if this team had many superstar performers in 2021. The biggest loss might actually come in the kicking game as Caleb Shudak will have to be replaced.
Most of the big losses for Iowa are secondary in nature, and there are plenty of other players on the roster that can be ready to step up.
2022 Iowa Hawkeyes Team Preview
On paper, the 2022 Iowa Hawkeyes team looks similar to what was on the field in 2021, but that might not be a good thing for Iowa. Even though the Hawkeyes were able to rack up ten wins a season ago, the overall stats weren’t that impressive.
Iowa is going to have to find a way to get more production from the quarterback position if they are going to win the Big Ten West Division again in 2022. The defense was incredibly solid last season, but it’s hard to rely on creating that many turnovers.
2022 Iowa Football Schedule
The non-conference schedule for the Iowa Hawkeyes looks pretty weak outside of the annual game against Iowa State. The Big Ten Conference wasn’t too kind on the Hawkeyes this season, though, as both Michigan and Ohio State are scheduled.
Life in the Big Ten West Conference has been okay for Iowa, but facing two of the best teams from the East Division won’t make things easy.
2022 Hawkeyes Regular Season Win Total Prediction
Getting to eight wins might be difficult for Iowa this season as they play a ton of tough road games. The schedule does not set up the Hawkeyes for a chance to win the Big Ten Conference this season, but they should still be successful.
As long as Iowa wins the games they are favored in, then they should get to eight wins, and that is the play. The Hawkeyes aren’t going to win the Big Ten, but they will be in the mix.
