2022 Jean Lafitte Stakes Predictions

When: Saturday, November 12th 2022

Where: Delta Downs

There are six juveniles entered for this race and Toddchero is the favorite. Rithm Nic is one of the leading contenders and Mustafa has a good chance at high odds. The three colts are my picks to finish in the money in the Jean Lafitte.

Horse Racing Betting Guide

Win: Toddchero

The Florida-bred two-year colt is trained by Jayde Gelner and ridden by jockey CJ McMahon. He will be breaking out of the No. 4 gate as a prime position in the race. Toddchero placed third in the Clever Trevor Stakes on Oct. 28. That event was won by Wildatlanticstorm with Campfire Creed in second place.

Toddchero finished first, second or third in four of five races this young season. The son of Bucchero has graduated to a mile in the Jean Lafitte after proving himself in dirt sprints. Toddchero is the favorite because of the rather high Horse Racing Nation rating in the field.

Place: Rithm Nic

Trained by Chris Richard, Rithm Nic will be starting No. 1 with Vince Del Cid as his jockey. The two-year colt bred in Kentucky won the Allowance race at Delta Downs on Oct. 21. He covered seven furlongs on dirt in 1:29.58 over Sheer Element and Mor Victory.

Sired by Outwork, he has competed in both dirt and turf sprints. The Jean Lafitte Stakes will be the first time he crossed one mile. Rithm Nic also raced at Canterbury Park in Minnesota and Kentucky Downs.

Show: Mustafa

The two-year gelding was born in Kentucky and raced for Greg Appleyard Highfield Investment Group. Mustafa is trained by Greg Tracy and ridden by jockey Alex Birzer. He will start at No. 5 in the Jean Lafitte Stakes. His first race of the season was at Delta Downs and he won a five- furlong race with a time of 60.48 over Runtoday and Perfect Prank.

Mustafa is sired by Midnight Lute and Moneybru and is going a mile on dirt for the first time in his young career. Bred by champions, Mustafa will use his home-track advantage to finish in the money in spite of his youth.
