The SEC is far and away the best college football conference in the country, and it has been that way for the past decade at least. A pair of SEC teams met for the College Football Playoff a season ago, and that could be the case again in 2022.
This league is not only loaded at the top though, and there will be some upsets that take place along the way. It’s going to be hard for any team to knock off the two best teams in the standings, but there will likely be some drama that ensues.
Here is a look at how the 2022 SEC football season might go, with a prediction included at the end.
Two Clear Title Favorites
When it comes to the SEC, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs tend to run things every year. Georgia is the defending CFP champion, but Alabama has been the most dominant team over the past decade.
Alabama is the clear betting favorite at -130, while Georgia is right behind them at +135. The Crimson Tide will be out to get revenge on the Bulldogs, but this is shaping up to be another battle this season.
Georgia dominated college football a season ago with one of the best defensive performances in ages. The Bulldogs lost a number of players to the NFL, and it’s likely that they are going to take a step back at some point.
Quarterback Bryce Young will be back for the Crimson Tide, and he will once again be one of the best players in the country. There are still some concerns on the defensive side of the ball, but that offense could be nearly unstoppable.

Which Teams Make a Run?
There are going to be some surprises in the SEC as this conference is loaded with Top 25 programs. If you are looking to bet on a sleeper then you should be looking at Texas A&M (+1200) and Kentucky (+4000).
Texas A&M is one team that is not scared of Alabama, and they actually beat them a season ago. Kentucky will be led by quarterback Will Levis, and he will be one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy.
You should expect to see both of these teams contend to win the SEC in 2022, but it might take a little luck for them to end up on top.
Crimson Tide Get Revenge
The Alabama Crimson Tide might have come up short in the CFP title game a season ago, but that just means that they will be back and looking for revenge in 2022. Nick Saban has once again reloaded his roster, and he is still the best coach in the country.
It will be Alabama and Georgia meeting again for the SEC Championship, and the Crimson Tide will win the conference crown.
