Having kept 48 clean sheets in 96 international appearances, the 30-year-old’s shutout ratio for Belgium stands at 50%. There is no reason why he can’t become the first goalie to win back-to-back Golden Gloves.
Manuel Neuer (+600)
Neuer won the Golden Glove back in 2014 thanks to the part he played in Germany’s World Cup triumph. Eight years later, the veteran goalkeeper will aim to emulate that achievement in Qatar.
The Bayern Munich star has only managed to achieve one shutout across his previous six international outings. Still, it is important to remember that Neuer has kept 48 clean sheets for his country.
2022 World Cup Golden Glove Sleeper to Consider
In truth, there are several goalkeepers who stand a realistic chance of winning the Golden Glove this year. Before I lock in my pick, let’s check out a potential sleeper that could upset the odds in Qatar.
Jordan Pickford (+1400)
Last year, Jordan Pickford racked up five consecutive clean sheets as England reached the European Championship final. If Pickford is at his best in Qatar, he will surely add to his 21 international shutouts – giving him a chance of winning the Golden Glove.
2022 World Cup Golden Glove Predictions
At the end of the day, Alisson has the lowest Golden Glove odds for a reason. The Brazilians have kept ten clean sheets in 15 games since last year’s Copa America, highlighting their defensive solidity.
Brazil is the bookies’ favorite to win the World Cup, meaning Alisson should go deep into the tournament. Naturally, the Liverpool shot-stopper is expected to play a pivotal role in his country’s campaign.
