Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon will attempt to upset the Brazilians in Group G. Still, Tite’s men look destined to win the group and go deep into the tournament. Here’s what you need to know about the four teams in Group G.

Brazil World Cup Preview 2022

Odds to Win Group G: -225

To say that Brazil made light work of the World Cup qualification process would be an understatement. Indeed, Tite’s men avoided defeat in each of their 17 qualifiers – picking up 14 wins and three draws in the process.

The Brazilians scored 40 goals during the qualification campaign (2.4 goals per game), conceding just five times along the way. When you look at the bigger picture, they have only lost one of their past 29 games in all competitions.

Brazil’s roster is stacked with talent in every department, although the attacking department is undoubtedly the strongest. With Neymar, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha and Antony all headed to Qatar, Brazil will be difficult to stop.

Serbia World Cup Preview 2022

Odds to Win Group G: +450

The past 12 months have been hugely successful for Serbia. After thrashing Qatar 4-0, the Eagles beat Portugal 2-1 to complete an unbeaten World Cup qualification campaign and force Cristiano Ronaldo and co. into the playoffs.

Since then, they have suffered just two defeats in eight games – securing five wins in the process. As a result, they gained promotion to Nations League A after edging out Erling Haaland’s Norway.

Dusan Vlahovic and Luka Jovic may be the big-name stars on Serbia’s roster, but Aleksandar Mitrovic is the danger man. The Fulham striker has scored 50 goals in 76 appearances for his country, underlining his importance to the team.

Switzerland World Cup Preview 2022

Odds to Win Group G: +500

It’s fair to say that Switzerland endured a tricky start to 2022. After suffering four losses in five games between March and June, the Red Crosses looked destined to experience a tough time in Qatar.

However, following wins against Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic, things are looking up for the Swiss. Having beaten the 2010 World Cup winners and the 2016 European champions, they will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds in the coming weeks.

It feels as though Granit Xhaka holds the key to Switzerland’s chances of success. The Arsenal midfielder has enjoyed a phenomenal 2022-23 campaign up to now and will captain his country in Qatar.

Cameroon World Cup Preview 2022

Odds to Win Group G: +1200

Earlier this year, Cameroon reached the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals on home soil – only to fall to Egypt. Since then, Rigobert Song’s side has suffered defeats to Algeria, Uzbekistan and South Korea.

The Indomitable Lions have a few big-name players in their ranks, such as Andre Onana, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Even so, they will struggle to qualify for the knockout phase.

Granted, Brazil’s odds to win Group G are nothing to write home about. However, given the Brazilians’ obvious superiority over the other three teams, backing them to win the group is a no-brainer.
