We’re going to hunt down the best value in the 2023 MLB wins leader season-long player props market.
With this market, the goal is to predict which pitcher will have the most wins during the 2023 MLB regular season. It’s a tough market to predict, but the potential payouts are enticing.
Gerritt Cole is the favorite to lead the Majors in wins and even his odds are at 10/1. Cole has never led MLB in wins during the regular season. Kyle Wright led the Majors in wins (21) in 2022.
Favorites to Lead MLB in Wins in 2023
There are five pitchers paying 15/1 odds or lower to lead MLB in regular season wins.
Cole (+1000) has been regressing a bit lately. He went 13-8 last season with a 3.50 ERA. The Yankees are also in the loaded AL East. Cole is a contender to lead MLB in strikeouts in 2023, though.
Justin Verlander (+1400) led the AL and finished second overall in wins last season (18). Verlander is now the ace for the Mets, a team that won 101 games last season. He’ll have a chance to win 20+ games.
Shane McClanahan (+1500) is the Rays ace in 2023. McClanahan went 10-6 in 2021 and 12-8 in 2022 for TB. The Rays went 86-76 last season and McClanahan will struggle to win 15 games this season.
Max Fried (+1500) is expected to start as the #1 pitcher for the Braves this season. Fried has gone 14-7 in each of the past two seasons. The Braves will win a lot of games, but Fried won’t lead the Majors in wins this season.
Julio Urias (+1500) led MLB in wins (20) in 2021. His numbers improved last season, but he went 17-7, which ranked him third in wins. Urias is a contender to lead MLB in wins during the 2023 regular season.
2023 MLB Wins Leader Predictions
Wright came out of nowhere to lead MLB in wins last season. Will another pitcher do the same in 2023?
Framber Valdez (+1600) went 17-6 for the Astros last season and he’ll be the team’s ace this season. He’s intriguing because the Astros play in the AL West against three teams that lose a lot of games.
Houston finished second in regular season wins (106) last season. The Dodgers had 111 wins.
Yu Darvish (+3000) offers lots of value as well. He tied his career-high in wins (16) last season with the Padres. SD bolstered the batting order and will score more runs, which could lead to more wins for Darvish.
Alek Manoah (+2000) went 16-7 for the Blue Jays in his first full season. He was tied for second with Darvish in quality starts (25). Only Valdez had more quality starts (26) in 2022.
Since the market is tough to predict and the payout odds are big, we can bet on a few pitchers to give us more coverage. I’m betting on Urias, Valdez and Darvish to lead MLB in wins this season.
Best Bets: Urias (+1500), Valdez (+1600) and Darvish (+3000)
