2023 XFL Team Notes
Here’s a quick breakdown of the favorite teams for the North and South plus a look at the 2nd favored team. They just happen to be the three favorite teams to win the 2023 XFL Championship.
North Favorite: St. Louis BattleHawks +400
The St. Louis BattleHawks come in as the preseason favorite to win the 2023 XFL Championship. They were one of the most dynamic teams in the 2020 version of the XFL and played in front of packed crowds. Anthony Becht takes the helm as head coach following a long career in the NFL, which included a stint with the St. Louis Rams. He also coached with the Alliance of American Football for the San Diego Fleet. The QBs for St. Louis include journeyman NFL signal caller A.J. McCarron out of Alabama and Nick Tiano who played for Chattanooga, Mississippi State, the NFL and CFL.
South Favorite: Arlington Renegades +500
The Arlington Renegades will be coached by Bob Stoops with co-offensive coordinators Jonathan Hayes and Chuck Long. Jay Hayes and Tim Lewis will be heading up the defense, which means we can probably expect fast to the ball and shut-down blitzes. Kyle Sloter is out of Northern Colorado followed by a nice run in New Orleans and the USFL, will be one of the QBs along with Kevin Anderson and Drew Plitt. They have some good hands with their wide receivers and tight ends starting with TE Sal Cannella out of Auburn who was a great player last season in the USFL.
2nd Favorite on Odds List: Seattle Sea Dragons +450
The Seattle Sea Dragons have a nice QB corps that include Ben DiNucci out of James Madison, Pittsburgh and the Dallas Cowboys. There is also Harrison Frost from West Georgia and former Colorado QB Steven Montez who went onto the Washington FT. The trio will be playing for Head Coach Jim Haslett and OC June Jones who combined have plenty of defensive and offensive knowledge with tons of NFL coaching experience. They will be playing on the same turf as the NFL Seahawks so expect some noise – depending on crowd size.
