We’re going to analyze the early futures odds for March Madness 2024.
The UConn Huskies are fresh off winning the 2023 NCAAB National Championship. #4 UConn defeated #5 San Diego State (76-59) in the National Championship Game.
The Huskies have won five National Championships (1999, 2004, 2011, 2014 and 2023).
UConn weren’t even on the radar to start the season. However, by January 2023, the Huskies had moved up the rankings and were second in the futures betting market (+1200 odds).
After an incredible 2023 NCAA basketball tournament with numerous surprises, anything could happen in next year’s tournament. Now is the time to jump on any value before next season starts.
Favorites to Win March Madness 2024
UConn opened up as favorites to win the 2024 March Madness tournament, but Duke (+1000) are now favored. UConn are second in the market at +1200 odds, while Kentucky are third at +1400 odds.
Duke were knocked out in the second round in 2023, which was a big disappointment. The Blue Devils made the Final Four in 2022, but they haven’t won the tournament since 2015.
It looks like UConn will need to replace their leading scorer and rebounder in Adama Sanogo. He could enter the NBA draft and is projected to be a second round pick, which will hurt the Huskies in 2024.
Kentucky were also knocked out in the second round in the 2023 tournament. The Wildcats haven’t made the Final Four since 2015 and they haven’t won the tournament since 2012.
Some of the other favorites to win March Madness 2024 include Kansas (+1600), Marquette (+1600), Purdue (+1800), Michigan State (+1800), Gonzaga (+1800), Arizona (+2000) and UCLA (+2000).
None of the seven teams just mentioned made it to the Final Four in 2023. If you’re going to bet on one of the top contenders before the 2024 CBB season, you’re better off looking for teams with higher odds.
2024 March Madness Sleepers
These teams aren’t really “sleepers”, but the bookies have them priced at above 20/1 odds to win the 2024 March Madness tournament. There’s value in betting on these teams before their odds drop.
Houston (+2500) are projected to be a top 5 team next season. They’ll be elite defensively and strong on the glass. Jamal Shead is an excellent floor general and they have lots of depth in the backcourt.
Miami FL (+3300) and Florida Atlantic (+3300) are fresh off Final Four appearances.
Miami will return a few starters and they could make another splash in the transfer portal, which could put them among the top contenders. Rich boosters have the potential to change the CBB landscape.
FAU are expected to return most players and they have tons of depth already. The Final Four run wasn’t a fluke and FAU will prove that in 2024. They’ll be among the contenders to win it all in March next year.
