College Football Bowl Schedule and Odds

The 2020 college football bowl season gets underway on Monday, Dec. 21 with the Myrtle Beach Bowl between the Appalachian State Mountaineers and the North Texas Mean Green. It runs all the way through Monday, Jan. 11 with this year’s College Football Playoff Championship Game.

All told there are 30 postseason games on the schedule. More than a few cancellations have trimmed the overall amount of bowl games this season. But you can bet that the betting action will be as big as ever at online sportsbooks.

The highlight is the battle for this season’s national title. Following this past weekend’s various conference championships, the four teams in this year’s playoff are:

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide

#2 Clemson Tigers

#3 Ohio State Buckeyes

#4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Alabama will face Notre Dame in this year’s Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 as one of two semifinal games. The Tide have been opened as heavy 19½ point favorites coming off an impressive 11- 0 run straight-up while going 8-3 against the spread.

Notre Dame’s only SU loss of the year came against Clemson in the ACC title game. The Irish were 5-6 ATS. They are just 1-8 SU in their last nine games played in January.

College Football Bowl Predictions

While those two games should attract quite a bit of betting action over the next two weeks, there are some great showdowns on the rest of the 2020 bowl schedule.

An early matchup on Saturday, Dec. 26 pits two of the best Mid-Major programs this year against one another. The 9-1 SU (8-2 ATS) Liberty Flames face the 11-0 SU (8-2-1 ATS) Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl.

Coastal Carolina is a six-point favorite with the total set at 59½ points. Liberty is 5-1 ATS in its last six games against the Sun Belt. The Chanticleers are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games closing as favorites.

The AAC’s No. 6 Cincinnati Bearcats made a strong case for a playoff spot this season at 9-0 SU (5-4 ATS). They will have to settle for a matchup against the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Jan. 1.

The Bulldogs are seven-point favorites and the opening total line is 50 points. Georgia has won 11 of its last 16 January games SU. The total has stayed UNDER in the Bearcats’ last five games as underdogs.
