New Year’s Eve is always one of the big events of the year and this one is no exception. What makes it an even bigger celebration is the College Football Playoff semifinals which both take place on Dec. 31. Georgia faces off against Michigan and Cincinnati, the first Group of 5 team to make the CFP, takes on top seed Alabama.
What makes the games even more exciting is the ability to bet on each game. In addition to traditional bets, there a number of great prop bets on both games. Here’s a look at CFP semifinals best NCAAF prop bets.
Georgia vs. Michigan Props Picks
The Big Ten’s Wolverines get it done on offense by running the football. Michigan ranks 10 th in the nation in rushing offense averaging 223.8 yards per game. Leading the attack is senior RB Hassan Haskins who rushed for 1,288 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Blake Corum added 939 and 11 more scores for the Wolverines. Yes, Georgia has a strong run defense – third nationally at 81.7 yards per game – but you have to love the play on Haskins to score a touchdown at -105.
Likewise, the Bulldogs run for nearly 195 yards per game and RB Zamir White is their go-to guy. White to score a touchdown in Friday’s game is listed at +106.
Now, most would expect the nation’s best defense is going to shut down Michigan, a team that averages 37.7 points per game. What many might not expect is for the Wolverines to open the scoring. Michigan scored first in all of its games but one – Penn State – this season. That gives some value to the Michigan First to Score bet at +125.
Best Bet #1: Haskins Anytime Touchdown (-105)
Best Bet #2: White Anytime Touchdown (+106)
Best Bet #3: Michigan-First to Score (+125)
Cincinnati vs. Alabama Props Picks
Cincinnati vs. Alabama Preview
The Crimson Tide are, of course, the heavy favorite to win the national title. What many people may overlook is the fact that both of these teams play good defense and special teams.
This is the type of game where big plays can happen. Look for big play – a touchdown – on either defense or special teams in this game. At +210, it’s worth a small wager.
It is highly likely that Tide QB Bryce Young and the Alabama offense score and do so the first time they touch the ball. Alabama’s first scoring play as a touchdown is about as close to a sure bet as you can find in this game. It’s getting -105 odds.
As mentioned, Alabama is a big favorite – -13.5 to be exact – but these are the types of games where underdogs shine. With that in mind, we like the Tide to win but only by six or fewer points. Picking this scoring margin gives us +725 odds.
Best Bet #1: Yes-Defense/Special Teams TD (+210)
Best Bet #2: Alabama First Score TD (-105)
Best Bet #3: Alabama Wins by 1-6 Points (+725)
