College Football Teaser Predictions for Week 5

Full-blown conference play is here and most programs in the country are really getting into the meat of their schedule and this is actually better for the teaser crowd in general. Teasers are made by conceding value for points and we want to make sure that we make that trade worth it. When we have a bunch of mismatches and big spreads, these points become less valuable and the teasers are worse. That shouldn’t be the case moving forward.

NCAA Football Week 5 6-Point Teaser Picks

Arkansas vs. Georgia Betting Preview

Teaser Pick: Arkansas +24.5

Arkansas wants to keep the ball on the ground and give their elite receiver a few chances to make big plays. Georgia loves pounding the rock and Arkansas’s defense is more than willing to give up 4 yard carries to the Bulldogs all day long. Georgia’s offense looks find vs horrible teams, but they still looked like Georgia vs. Clemson and I just don’t know how the margin gets that high in this game barring a wide turnover margin.

Texas Tech vs. West Virginia Betting Preview

Teaser Pick: West Virginia -1.5

Tech just took an absolute beating and the turn around with another tough matchup on the ground and I think that they simply don’t have time to deal with all of the issues that showed up on tape this week. WVU’s defense is solid and Texas Tech also left last game with QB issues.

Michigan vs. Wisconsin Betting Preview

Teaser Pick: Michigan +7.5

I think Michigan’s offense could really struggle here when we saw how one-dimensional they were vs Rutgers. However, there are a few things that make me like this bet in a teaser. Obviously, we get to move through a bunch of key numbers here and we are taking another low total game. This is a game more like the NFL where it is very likely to stay close one way or another, making key numbers like 3 and 7 huge.

I also think that the issues that popped up at Rutgers could help Michigan figure out a few things that they need to work on this week. We’ve seen Wisconsin in big games this year and they really don’t look like a team that is going to win by 2 scores too often.

NCAA Football Week 5 10-Point Teaser Picks

Ohio State vs. Rutgers Betting Preview

Teaser Pick: Ohio State -5

First of all, this is a fantastic number to tease with 10 points because we are moving through 6, 7, 10, 13, and 14. We are also betting on a team that wants NOTHING to do with a 1-score game and it’s not like it is even acceptable to Ohio State. While player motivation and other factors can get messy in spread picks, there is no way that Ohio State will allow this game to be within one score if it was their choice. Other teams that are 15 point favorites would be more than happy to escape with any kind of victory, that’s not the case here.

Ole Miss vs. Alabama Betting Preview

Teaser Pick: Ole Miss +24.5

The biggest question here is; can Ole Miss replicate their magic offensively this year and I think there are a bunch of layers to that proposition. First of all, I will be willing to bet this one live multiple times because I think that we will know pretty quickly. Ole Miss really did things to catch Alabama off guard last season and it’s definitely possible that they knew the Alabama defensive calls. If this was the secret sauce last season, we could be in real trouble here, but I think that the Rebels keep this one competitive.

Fresno State vs. Hawaii Betting Preview

Teaser Pick: Fresno State -1

Fresno State is a super fun offense and one that I would suggest watching every week if you are a college football fan. I also think that their early-game struggles will be dealt with either internally or with the will of the football gods at some point. This team left the first quarter with UConn with 0 points and didn’t score a TD vs. UNLV until their final drive of the first half, while eventually scoring PLENTY of points in these games.
