Week 4 of the college football season is set to begin on Thursday night, and it is another full slate of games all weekend long. While there are some great betting opportunities throughout the week, we are focusing on the Saturday games for this exercise.
Here are five of the best college football against the spread bets to make on Saturday.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Wisconsin Badgers
Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin Picks
Best Bet: Notre Dame +6.5
One of the biggest games of this weekend will take place at Soldier Field in Chicago as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Wisconsin Badgers meet up. Wisconsin is currently a 6.5-point favorite, but that feels too big for this game.
Notre Dame hasn’t been playing its best football, but they are still a perfect 3-0. Wisconsin sometimes has trouble scoring the football, and they won’t be able to run away from the Fighting Irish in this game.
The Badgers could go on to win the game, but it won’t be by a wide margin. Taking the 6.5-points is the right play in this one.
LSU Tigers vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs
LSU vs. Mississippi State Picks
Best Bet: LSU Tigers -2.5
The action in the SEC is just starting to heat up, but this game won’t be a matchup of two of the league’s best teams. LSU is a slight favorite at Mississippi State on Saturday, and this should be a terrific battle.
Both of these teams love to throw the football, but it will take a running attack to determine the outcome of this game. LSU is slightly better at that than Mississippi State, and that will give the Tigers a win.
Look for LSU to get a late score to win this game and cover the small spread in this matchup.
Boise State Broncos vs. Utah State Aggies
Boise State vs. Utah State Picks
Best Bet: Boise State -9
The Boise State Broncos head to Logan, Utah, on Saturday morning for a matchup with the Utah State Aggies. Boise State is just 1-2 on the year, but they are still heavy favorites over the 3-0 Aggies.
Boise State is averaging just 67 rushing yards per game this season, but they are facing a defense that can’t stop the run. Utah State has an explosive offense, but they don’t want to get into that style of play against the Broncos.
There should be plenty of points in this one, but that favors Boise State. The Broncos win this game and cover the nine-point spread.
Texas A&M Aggies vs. Arkansas Razorbacks
Best Bet: Texas A&M -5.5
Texas A&M and Arkansas are both 3-0 to begin the season, and each team is hoping to make a run in the loaded SEC. Despite a perfect start for each team, it appears as if Texas A&M has more overall talent.
Texas A&M has allowed just 17 total points through three games, but the offense hasn’t been as explosive as normal. The Aggies should be able to get that unit rolling against an Arkansas team that doesn’t always defend.
Arkansas has a monster win over the University of Texas, but the rest of the schedule has been soft. The Razorbacks still have plenty to prove, and they are going to come up short in this one.
Take Texas A&M -5.5 as they stay undefeated by beating Arkansas by at least a touchdown.
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Michigan State Spartans
Nebraska vs. Michigan State Picks
Best Bet: Michigan State -5
Michigan State is back in the Top 25 after a perfect 3-0 start, and they host Nebraska on Saturday night. Nebraska has rebounded a bit after an upset loss to Illinois, but the Cornhuskers still have some issues.
The Spartans have a defense that can shut down anyone, and that includes quarterback Adrian Martinez of Nebraska. Nebraska has averaged over 200 rushing yards per game, but they aren’t going to be able to run the ball in this one.
Michigan State has more talent, and they are winning this game by at least a touchdown to cover the spread.
