College Football Week 4 Predictions, Odds and Preview

Coach Rick is excited for Week 4 of the 2020 college football season. The SEC joins the rest of the football-playing country with its first games of the season.

Coach would be a bit more excited if he would have hit on more than the Miami-Louisville Over 60.5 last week, but as they say “it’s a new week!”

Here’s a look at the best of Week 4.

(#23) Kentucky vs. (#8) Auburn Picks

These two teams haven’t played each other since the 2015 season and prior to that it was 2010. Auburn won both games by just three points, but you can throw those out the window for this SEC opener.

Auburn is 7-1 ATS in their last eight games at Jordan-Hare Stadium. They are also 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games playing as the favorite.

The Auburn Tigers return QB Bo Nix who threw for 2,542 yards and 16 touchdowns last year as a freshman. Kentucky must replace dual-threat QB Lynn Bowden.

Kentucky went 8-5 last season and is an impressive 7-1 ATS in their last eight games.

The Auburn defense lost two first-round NFL draft picks but reloads under DC Kevin Steele. The Tigers defense ranks among the nation’s best each year and they will do enough to help Auburn win and cover on Saturday.

BEST BET: AUBURN -7.5

(#24) Louisville vs. (#21) Pittsburgh Picks

Louisville took one on the chin last week losing to Miami. Now, they will face one of the better defenses in the ACC and in the nation. Pittsburgh gave up just 171 yards and 10 points to Syracuse last week.

The Cardinals do have a quick-strike offense though led by QB Micale Cunningham who has 650 passing yards and six touchdowns. He will have to navigate a Panthers defense that put the clamps on Syracuse.

Of the 171 yards Pittsburgh gave up last week, 69 came on one play.

Louisville has been successful against the spread recently covering in four of their last six games. They are also 5-2 ATS in their last seven games played in September.

The Cardinals offense will keep Louisville in the game and allow them to cover the 3.5-point spread.

BEST BET: LOUISVILLE +3.5

(#22) Army vs. (#14) Cincinnati Picks

If there’s one thing Coach Rick loves each week, it’s watching Army football. The Black Knights triple option offense is a thing of beauty and it had an extra week to prepare for No. 14 Cincinnati.

Head coach Jeff Monken’s offense bleeds the clock and leaves opponents fighting for possessions. In two games this season, Army has won 42-0 and 37-7 and covered the spread in both games.

There is no question that Cincinnati has superior talent. That will not matter against Army. The Bearcats will have to play assignment football and defend the triple option. Remember, this is an Army program that took Michigan to double-overtime last season and Oklahoma to overtime in 2018. The Knights lost both games, but they will put up a serious fight.

Army is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games and 5-0 ATS in its last five games against Cincinnati. That’s enough for Coach Rick to believe Army will cover the two-touchdown spread in this one.

BEST BET: ARMY +14
