David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant Odds and Picks

David Benavidez will put his WBC interim super middleweight title on the line when he takes on Caleb Plant at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 25th.

Boxing Betting Sites

‘The Mexican Monster’ overcame David Lemieux to claim the vacant title back in May 2022, extending his professional boxing record to 26-0 in the process. Can Plant inflict a first pro defeat on Benavidez? Or will ‘Sweethands’ suffer a second loss in three fights?

I will be sharing my David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant predictions and betting picks a little later. First, let’s check out the odds and preview the highly anticipated bout.

Benavidez vs. Plant Betting Lines

David Benavidez to Win (-330)

Caleb Plant to Win (+240)

David Benavidez by Decision or Technical Decision (+350)

David Benavidez by KO/TKO/DQ (-140)

Draw (+1600)

Caleb Plant by Decision or Technical Decision (+400)

Caleb Plant by KO/TKO/DQ (+750)

As you can see, David Benavidez (-330) is the bookies’ favorite to triumph in Vegas, leaving Caleb Plant (+240) as the outsider. Benavidez is favored to win by KO/TKO/DQ (-140), making a victory by decision or technical decision (+350) unlikely.

That said, the bookies’ prices for Plant are by no means astronomical. This indicates that ‘Sweethands’ has the potential to upset the odds if he plays his cards right.

Benavidez vs. Plant Preview

It is easy to understand why David Benavidez is expected to beat Caleb Plant. After all, ‘The Mexican Monster’ boasts an eye-catching record of 26-0, having claimed 23 KO wins since making his pro debut back in 2013.

As a two-time WBC super middleweight champion, Benavidez knows what it takes to operate at the highest level, and the 26-year-old showcased his talents in his previous fight, dropping David Lemieux in round 2 before forcing a stoppage in round 3.

On the flip side, Plant holds a record of 22-1 after recording his first pro loss in November 2021, suffering an 11th-round TKO defeat to Canelo Alvarez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The 30-year-old returned to winning ways in October 2022, securing a KO victory over Anthony Dirrell in New York. However, there is no denying that Benavidez is a much tougher opponent than Dirrell, so Plant will have to be at his very best in Vegas.

Benavidez vs. Plant Predictions

David Benavidez by KO/TKO/DQ (-140)

Under 10.5 Total Rounds (-130)

David Benavidez to Win in Rounds 7-9 (+350)

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing David Benavidez to win by KO/TKO/DQ. With a whopping 23 KO wins to his name, Benavidez looks destined to make light work of Caleb Plant. I’m also confident that the fight will last under 10.5 rounds, as Benavidez will likely clinch the victory before the final two.

The last of my Benavidez vs. Plant picks is something of a long shot, but it could easily come to fruition. Since two of Benavidez’s past five fights have ended in rounds 7-9, backing the +350 price makes a lot of sense.
