Early 2022 NFL Super Bowl Futures Odds

Despite a dominating victory over Kansas City last Sunday, Brady’s Bucs are not the favorite to win Super Bowl LVI. That honor belongs to someone else.

Kansas City Comeback

After being constantly pressured all night long, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ Super Bowl performance left him wanting more. Mahomes, who finished the game with a 52.3 QB rating, vowed that the Chiefs loss on Sunday will motivate him in the 2021 season.

Oddsmakers agree. The Chiefs are the +500 favorite to come back and win a second Super Bowl in three years. Remember, Kansas City lost OT Eric Fisher in the AFC championship game and had to shuffle their offensive line around. A healthy Fisher would have made a big difference on Sunday.

Odds on Veteran QBs

Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers won his third league MVP for his performance last season. He will return as will most of the NFL’s top-scoring offense in 2020. The Packers led the league averaging 31.8 points per game this season.

The Rams will welcome former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford to town. Los Angeles finished 10-6 and earned a wild card in 2020. They beat Seattle in their first playoff game but fell to Green Bay. Former QB Jared Goff –traded for Stafford – was injured and mostly ineffective in the playoffs.

Both Green Bay and the Rams are given +1200 odds to win next year’s Super Bowl.

Buffalo on the Rise

Bills head coach Sean McDermott’s fourth season as head coach was the best in franchise history for some time. Buffalo won the AFC East for the first time in 25 years.

The Bills reached the AFC title game where they were simply outmatched by Kansas City. You can bet McDermott and his quarterback Josh Allen will be back.

The Bills were second in scoring during the regular season averaging 31.3 points per game. Allen threw for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns giving Rodgers a run for his money for the league MVP.

Buffalo is listed at +1400 to win Super Bowl LVI.

Defense Wins Championships

The Rams had the best defense in the league in 2020. DT Aaron Donald won the Defensive Player of the Year award for the third time. That’s why the Rams are listed at +1200.

San Francisco, which struggled through a number of key injuries in 2020, still wound up fifth in total defense on the season. They will return the likes of Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, and others to a defensive unit that could be the league’s best in 2021.

The 49ers, who played for the Super Bowl last year, are listed at +1400 to win it in 2022.

The Ravens are another outstanding defense and also have the 2019 season league MVP in Lamar Jackson. Baltimore finished second behind the Rams in scoring defense (18.9 ppg) and that’s why they are given +1600 odds to win next year’s Super Bowl.

Longshot

The AFC North will be loaded again with Baltimore, an improving Cleveland (+2000), and the team that started the 2020 season 11-0 – Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are listed +3300 to win next year despite having one of the league’s best defenses and a two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben has indicated he is playing in 2021, which makes the Steelers an interesting longshot.
