Four Best Prop Bets for Week 14 Thursday Night Football

The New England Patriots are still alive in the AFC playoff race. I know this sounds surprising considering the season that they’ve had in 2020.

They’ll meet the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night in Los Angeles this week. Los Angeles is 8-4 and tied for first place in the NFC West. Thursday Night Football is a great chance for bettors to win some money before the weekend slate.

NFL Week 14 Betting Lines

Here are my four best prop bets for this Thursday’s game between the Patriots and the Rams.

Cooper Kupp 75-plus Receiving Yards and a TD (+225)

Cooper Kupp has been Jared Goff’s go-to guy all season long. The Rams wouldn’t be the same without the 2017 fifth-round pick out of Eastern Washington.

When Los Angeles is clicking, Kupp is playing his best football. He’s averaging 70 yards per game, but he has only hauled in two touchdowns.

New England is average against the pass. Last week, the defense played phenomenally, but Kupp still has the ability to exploit the secondary.

New England has five defensive starters who are questionable. This doesn’t help its cause to minimize Cooper Kupp’s presence on Thursday night.

Kupp has only caught two touchdowns this season. However, he is leading the team in targets per game. Sean McVay will need to get Kupp going early to have success.

Cam Akers, Damien Harris, and Cooper Kupp all score TDs (+100)

Damien Harris has established himself as the primary back in New England. Sony Michel returned last week from injury, but he wasn’t given much attention.

The Patriots are a ground-and-pound football team. They’ve adapted to the strength of their team. This fits Cam Newton’s style, and it also works for Harris.

The Rams’ front seven is relentless. Harris will have his work cut out for him. However, he and Newton will be the team’s main red zone threats on Thursday night.

The same goes for Cam Akers. He has taken a bigger role of late in the Rams rushing game.

He is questionable with a shoulder injury. However, I expect him to play. If he can stay healthy throughout the night, he’ll play a big role.

As I mentioned before, I think Kupp will have a huge outing. The play-action aspect of the Rams offense makes them tough to defend. I expect McVay to take some shots downfield with Kupp and get him going in the screen game.

Cam Akers 75-plus rushing yards and a TD (+200)

The Patriots are in the bottom third of the league in rushing yards allowed per game. Injuries set Akers back early in the season. Even though he’s questionable, he should play Thursday.

New England is beaten up on defense. Los Angeles has multiple backs that can wear down the Patriots up front. This will help Akers rip off some big gains when he gets his chances.

Thursday could be a huge game for Akers if he beats the injury bug. In his past two, he has scored a touchdown in each game and gone over 75 yards once. His rushing yards were 84 and 72 against San Francisco and Arizona, respectively, in the past two weeks.

First Team to Score: Los Angeles (-150)

Los Angeles is average when it comes to first-quarter scoring. The Rams are 12th in the league, averaging 5.7 points.

I think they’ll be able to take advantage of New England early with their play-action attack.

On the other hand, New England is last in first-quarter scoring. It takes Newton a while to get going. I think this will be multiplied against the Rams, who are at the top of the league’s defensive rankings.

New England will hit a hot streak, but it won’t be before the Rams get on the scoreboard.
