We’re going to explain all of the NFL player futures betting markets available at online bookies. In recent years, NFL player props have been all the rage and now NFL player futures are becoming more popular.
Like other NFL futures bets, NFL player futures are season-long bets. Only regular season stats count towards these markets. These wagers will be graded at the end of the regular season.
NFL Player Totals Futures Bets
There are eight different statistical categories available to bet on. The goal is to predict whether a player will go over or under the posted total for the statistic. Here are examples for all eight categories:
Passing Yards: Aaron Rodgers Over 3950.5 Passing Yards vs. Under 3950.5 Passing Yards
Passing Touchdowns: Trevor Lawrence Over 26.5 Passing TDs vs. Under 26.5 Passing TDs
Rushing Yards: Derrick Henry Over 1150.5 Rushing Yards vs. Under 1150.5 Rushing Yards
Rushing Touchdowns: Josh Jacobs Over 8.5 Rushing TDs vs. Under 8.5 Rushing TDs
Receiving Yards: Jerry Jeudy Over 875.5 Receiving Yards vs. Under 875.5 Receiving Yards
Receiving Touchdowns: Travis Kelce Over 9.5 TDs vs. Under 9.5 TDs
Defensive Interceptions: Jalen Ramsey Over 3.5 INTs vs. Under 3.5 INTs
Sacks: Leonard Floyd Over 8.5 Sacks vs. Under 8.5 Sacks
Sportsbooks will release odds for lots of NFL player totals leading up to the season. These are excellent bets and you can utilize advanced NFL statistics to find out where the best value is every season.
NFL Milestones Futures Bets
The biggest sportsbooks release a unique futures market called “NFL milestones”. With these markets, the goal is to predict whether a player will surpass a statistical milestone during the regular season.
An example would be betting on Patrick Mahomes to throw for 5000+ passing yards during the regular season. Another example would be betting on Justin Jefferson to have 1500+ receiving yards.
NFL League Leaders Futures Bets
With NFL player totals and milestone futures bets, you only need to handicap a single player. With NFL league leaders futures bets, you need to handicap the top players at the position.
NFL handicappers can bet on a player leading the league in passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, receiving yards, receptions and sacks. These futures are tougher to predict, but the potential for a big payout is worth analyzing the market to see if there’s any value during the NFL offseason.
There are also league leader markets for NFL rookies only. This means only rookies are included in the player pool for the wager. You can therefore bet on which rookie QB will throw for the most yards or bet on which rookie RB will have the most rushing yards.
Should You Bet on NFL Player Futures?
There are pros and cons to betting on NFL player futures. One benefit is that there’s less variance betting on season-long futures compared to betting on single-game NFL player props. Casual bettors that have experience playing fantasy football often do well on these types of bets instead of team futures, such as betting on division winners. There’s less that can go wrong with player futures compared to team futures.
There are some cons, though. For one, your money will be tied up for months. That’s not a problem for some bettors, but not everyone can lock up a portion of their bankroll for that long. Another con is that if a player goes down with an injury, you’re going to lose any over bets.
