The Big Ten has been the most competitive conference this basketball season led by the Michigan Wolverines as one of the most complete teams in the nation. If you are looking to go chalk in any of the four regions, you cannot go wrong with penciling-in Michigan all the way to the Final Four.

Do not be overly concerned with three losses in Michigan’s last five games. This is never good to see from a momentum standpoint. However, the seven-game winning streak prior to this mini slide adds quite a bit of value to the Wolverines as the top seed.

The lone bump in the road would be the SEC’s Alabama Crimson Tide. Basketball does not carry all that much weight in this conference but the Tide have the type of team that could make a deep run over the next few weeks. At the very least, they should get a shot at beating Michigan in the East Region final as the No. 2 seed in the East.

You can put Florida State at the top of the list in this category. The ACC was less than dominant this season but the Seminoles are battle tested enough to pull off more than a few upsets in this tournament.

The downside to their betting value is being in the same half of the bracket as Michigan. You also cannot completely ignore Florida State’s trio of losses in its last five contests. All three losses came with the Seminoles closing as favorites.

Texas is coming off a victory against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Tournament’s title game. However, the Longhorns got a free pass to the finals with Kansas dropping out. It has still won five games in a row to draw some interest as a legitimate contender.

This is the type of team that could go on a big run and win the East. Texas could also bow out in the second round. The Longhorns have been too unpredictable to offer solid value in these odds.

College basketball experts are touting St. Bonaventure as a sleeper in the East. The Georgetown Hoyas have some solid momentum after making a run to the Big East Tournament title.

The Bonnies can beat LSU in the opening round but getting past the Wolverines in their next outing could be too tall of a task. None the less, if they would pull off that upset, the path to the Final Four opens up.

It is great to have Georgetown in the Big Dance but the Hoyas’ road to the region final is filled with too many tough tests in the later rounds.
