MLB Home Run Props Predictions (June 8th 2022)

So far in 2022, home runs are down. It’s actually a big difference too compared to last season. MLB teams averaged 1.22 homers per game last season. In 2022, that number is just 0.90.

Home runs were on fire in 2019 when teams hit an average of 1.39 per game. That was also the year that MLB set a number of home run records.

Some say the fewer homers are due to teams being able to carry more pitchers early in the season due to the lockout. Others say it’s the makeup of the ball.

Whatever it is, there are players out there still jacking dingers. Who will it be today? Here are the top MLB home run props picks for Wednesday, June 8th 2022.

Josh Donaldson – OVER 0.5 HRs (+280)

Yankees vs. Twins Preview

Donaldson only has five homers so far this season and teammates Aaron Judge (22), Anthony Rizzo (14), and Giancarlo Stanton (12) get more hype. However, tonight is Donaldson’s night.

He will go up against Minnesota’s Chris Archer tonight. Donaldson is only 5-for-30 against Archer, but three of the five hits have been home runs.

The other thing working in Donaldson’s favor is that tonight’s game is being played at Target Field in Minnesota. Target Field has allowed the ninth-most homers this season. At +280, the price is right on Donaldson.

Jared Walsh – OVER 0.5 HRs (+450)

Red Sox vs. Angels Preview

The Angels are in a serious tailspin having lost 13 straight games. It almost seems surreal, but L.A. needs something to give.

Tonight, the Angels will face Boston and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. The Red Sox pitcher is solid on the mound with a 3-2 record and a 3.41 ERA. However, Eovaldi allows a lot of home runs. In fact, he has given up 16 dingers, which is the second-most among major league pitchers.

Walsh has nine home runs this season. Only one of those was against a left-handed pitcher. Walsh has hit two homers in 15 at-bats against the Red Sox this season. In his career against Eovaldi, Walsh is 2-for- 6 with two doubles.

Manny Machado – OVER 0.5 HRs (+350)

Mets vs. Padres Preview

Machado is one of the leading candidates for the National League MVP. He is batting .325 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs. Tonight, Machado goes up against the New York Mets and pitcher Chris Bassitt.

With Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer out of the pitching rotation, Bassitt has had to step up his game. He has not.

Bassitt is a respectable 4-3 with a 3.74 ERA, but the Mets have lost two of his last three starts. In the two losses, Bassitt pitched 10.1 innings and allowed 13 hits and 11 earned runs. He also gave up five home runs.

That gives Bassitt 11 home runs allowed this season. That ranks ninth among pitchers. Machado has homered just once since May 22. He’s due.

Jorge Soler – OVER 0.5 HRs (+295)

Nationals vs. Marlins Preview

Soler homered yesterday in Miami’s 12-2 win over Washington. He has hit dingers in back-to-back games once before this season and he will get the opportunity today against Nationals pitcher Josiah Gray.

Gray is 6-4 this season, but he does give up a lot or runs. His ERA is 4.71. Gray is tied for fourth in home runs allowed this season with 14.

Gray has started 11 games this season. He has allowed at least one home run in nine of those starts. He has allowed multiple home runs in three of his last six starts, including three in a loss to the Dodgers and three more in a loss to Houston.
