Could the Miami Marlins Win the NL East?

You never know what’s going to happen during this shortened MLB season.

At the time of publishing, the Marlins (9-5) are first place in the NL East. However, they’ve played just 14 games and they have multiple games that they need to make up at some point.

However, the young roster could ride the momentum they’ve built up early this season.

Jesus Aguliar leads the team in batting average (.302), RBIs (15) and he’s tied for 1st in home runs (4).

The Atlanta Braves (12-10) are 2nd in the NL East and playing a series against the Marlins right now.

Miami won the opening game of the series (8-2).

Atlanta won the second game of the series (2-1) on a 9th inning HR by Adam Duvall. With the win, the Braves were able to snap a four-game losing streak. The third game in the series is this afternoon.

St. Louis Cardinals Have Only Played Seven Games

Because of a COVID-19 outbreak among players and staff, St. Louis have only played seven games.

The Cardinals recently started playing again and they’ve gone 2-0 against the White Sox to move to 4-3 on the season, which is currently good for 2nd place in the NL Central.

It’ll be interesting to see how many doubleheaders the Cardinals will have to play this year.

The Baltimore Orioles Are the #1 Wild Card Team in the AL

The Orioles (12-8) are sitting in the #1 wild card position right now in the American League.

It’s hard to imagine Baltimore having a winner record, let alone being a playoff contender, but with COVID-19 changing the MLB landscape, every team has a chance at the 2020 World Series.

Baltimore rank #9 in home runs (29) and 4th in RBIs (105) so far this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers Dominating Opponents

The Dodgers (15-7) may not have the best winning percentage yet, but they easily rank 1st place in run differential (+55). The next closest teams in run differential are the Yankees and Twins (+33).

All three teams have been smacking the baseball around this season. The Dodgers rank #1 in HRs (39), the Yankees rank #4 in HRs (35) and the Twins ranks #5 in HRs (34).
