There aren’t too many surprises early in the 2022 MLB season though the Colorado Rockies are 4-1 and at the top of the NL West standings. It’s very early in the season.
Toronto is off to a great start and it is evident why they are a favorite to win both the AL pennant and the World Series. They will close out a series with division rival New York tonight.
There is plenty of action today in MLB. Here are the top MLB underdog picks for Thursday, April 14th 2022.
Washington Nationals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Pick: NATIONALS +110
Anytime you have an underdog against the Pirates, you’re likely to find value. The Nationals have won three of their last four games and took two of three from defending World Series champion Atlanta.
In those three wins, Washington outscored the opposition 18-5. J.T. Brubaker and his 12.00 ERA will face the Nats today. Brubaker gave up four hits, four runs, and walked three in three innings in his Opening Day start.
Washington jumps all over Brubaker and Nats pitcher Joan Adon (0-1, 8.31 ERA) will do enough to get the win.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. NY Yankees

Pick: BLUE JAYS +105
Toronto has won two of three from New York. Vladimir Guerrero had three home runs in last night’s 6-4 win. After scoring 20 runs in three games with Texas, the Blue Jays have cooled off a bit.
Kevin Gausman pitches for the Blue Jays. He pitched five innings and gave up three runs in his first start against the Rangers. Toronto went on to win 4-3.
Toronto is 7-3 SU in its last ten against the Yankees and 6-1 SU in the last seven when playing at Yankee Stadium. Getting the Jays at plus-money is just a bonus.
Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals
Pick: TIGERS +110
Tigers P Casey Mize was absolutely awful in his first start this season. Mize allowed seven hits and four runs over five innings in a loss to the White Sox.
Thankfully for Mize, the Royals lineup is not as impressive as Chicago’s. Mize will regroup and take care of business against a weaker KC lineup.
Brad Keller, who had a great first start against Cleveland, will pitch more like his 8-12 record and 5.39 ERA of a year ago. Tigers get the upset.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Miami Marlins

Pick: MARLINS -105
Sandy Alcantara had a rough outing in his first start of the new season, but this is a guy who had a 2.41 ERA last season and allowed opponents to hit just .198 against him. He’s back on his home mound tonight against Philadelphia.
Bryce Harper is just 3-for-21 to start the season for the Phillies who are 3-3 so far. Philadelphia enters this series with the Marlins having lost two straight to the Mets.
Philadelphia is 4-9 SU in its last 13 games and just 1-6 SU in its last seven games on the road. Miami has beaten the Phillies in four of the last six head-to-head meetings.
