The NBA returns this Thursday, February 23rd, with no fewer than nine match-ups on the schedule. If you’re looking for the best NBA player props for today’s games, look no further, as I share my top picks below.
Jayson Tatum – Over 29.5 Points (-120)
Fresh from notching a whopping 55 points in the NBA All-Star Game, Jayston Tatum will now turn his attention to helping the Boston Celtics extend their lead at the summit of the Eastern Conference, with the Indiana Pacers up next.
Tatum has registered 30+ points in seven of his previous 10 appearances for Boston, taking his points per game average to 30.6 in the process. Only three forwards average more points per game than Tatum this season, so I expect him to reach over 29.5 points against Indiana.
Nikola Jokic – Over 9.5 Assists (+110)
The Denver Nuggets find themselves atop the Western Conference following a run of seven wins in nine games. On Thursday, the Nuggets face the Cleveland Cavaliers, who currently occupy fourth place in the Eastern Conference, despite losing to the Philadelphia 76ers last time out.
Only two players average more assists per game than Denver’s Nikola Jokic this season. Averaging 10.1 assists per game in 2022-23, Jokic shouldn’t struggle to rack up over 9.5 assists against Cleveland, having notched 10+ assists in six of his last eight outings for the Nuggets.
Fred VanVleet – Over 21.5 Points (-110)
Thanks to a run of five wins in six games, the Toronto Raptors will fancy their chances of overcoming the New Orleans Pelicans, who have lost 12 of their previous 16 outings. Accordingly, Fred VanVleet looks set to enjoy plenty of success at Scotiabank Arena.
After scoring 30+ points in back-to-back appearances earlier this month, VanVleet bagged 35 points against the Detroit Pistons two games ago. The 28-year-old has found some form in recent weeks, so I’m backing him to register over 21.5 points on Thursday.
James Harden – Over 11.5 Assists (+110)
James Harden boasts the best assists per game average in the NBA this season. The Philadelphia 76ers superstar averages a mammoth 10.8 assists per game in 2022-23, having racked up 444 assists across 41 outings.
Following a run of four consecutive victories, the 76ers find themselves third in the Eastern Conference. Although the Memphis Grizzlies occupy second place in the Western Conference, I’m confident that Harden will enhance his assists tally on home soil.
Luka Doncic – Over 32.5 Points (-105)
Averaging 33.3 points per game this season, Luka Doncic is arguably the deadliest guard in the NBA right now. The 23-year-old Slovenian has starred for the Dallas Mavericks throughout the campaign, consistently posting unrivalled scores.
On Thursday, the Mavericks host the San Antonio Spurs, who sit second from bottom in the Western Conference after suffering 14 successive losses. With the Spurs stuck in a seemingly unescapable rut, Doncic looks destined to run riot at the American Airlines Center.
