After an exciting week 1 set up the 2022 college football season for success, we’re onto week 2. There are a number of intriguing games, including the match-up of No. 1 Alabama and Texas.
Kentucky-Florida and Pittsburgh-Tennessee feature matchups of ranked opponents. Here are the best CFB week 2 point spread predictions.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns are significant underdogs in their own stadium and five-star freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers will make his collegiate debut in this game. Even though Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is familiar with Alabama head coach Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide are not going to panic.
Alabama QB Bryce Young leads an offense that put up 55 points last week. The Texas defense will not stop the Tide.
PICK: ALABAMA -20.5
Tennessee Volunteers vs. Pittsburgh Panthers
Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh Picks
They are playing with the minds of bettors by setting this line at 6.5 points. That makes it enticing to take the Volunteers despite the fact that the Panthers won last season’s matchup by a score of 41–34 in a shootout.
Since Pat Narduzzi took over as head coach, Pitt is also 8-7 ATS and 7-8 SU when playing as a home underdog. Pitt keeps it close.
PICK: PITTSBURGH +6.5
Washington State Cougars vs. Wisconsin Badgers
Washington State vs. Wisconsin Picks
Incarnate Word transfer Cam Ward has a shot to make an impression here, but the Cougars need to establish a running game behind him in order to compete with the Badgers.
The Badgers offense will continue to be effective with QB Graham Mertz and RB Braelon Allen, who had 148 yards and two touchdowns in the Badgers first game. Ward is a playmaker and Wisconsin plays at slow pace.
Covering almost three touchdowns will be tough for the Badgers.
PICK: WASHINGTON STATE +17
Kentucky Wildcats vs. Florida Gators
The SEC rivals have split the last four games. Following an unexpected victory in week 1 over Utah, the Gators made their way into the top 25.
It’s possible that Kentucky won’t have their starting running back Chris Rodriguez available, as he was suspended for week 1.
The Gators can keep their winning streak going under first-year coach Billy Napier. Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson must continue his impressive play against the Wildcats in a quarterback battle with Kentucky’s Will Levis.
Winning in The Swamp with a revitalized Gators team will be a tough task for Mark Stoops and Kentucky.
PICK: FLORIDA -4.5
Baylor Bears vs. BYU Cougars
College football fans will want to stay up for this one. Baylor beat BYU 38-24 last season, but will play on the road this year. That will be a tough task.
The line has moved a half-point in favor of the Cougars. Baylor’s ability to run the football and play great defense will take the home crowd out of the game.
Head coach Dave Aranda is only 1-5 ATS as a road underdog at Baylor. That shouldn’t scare bettors away. The Bears may even pull the upset here.
PICK: BAYLOR +3.5
