As we roll into 2025, we take a look at the best handicappers from the last week of 2024’s NHL season. There are some new faces in the top 5, as well as some old friends.
All together, they managed to bank over $1,500 in profit and score an 86% win rate.
Let’s take a look at how they did it:
Ray Raymond Uses Totals to Become #1
We’ve seen Mr. Raymond in the top 5 before, and this week he’s climbed the ladder with totals wagers.
Last week, Raymond made 7 totals wagers, losing only one of them and pushing another. Unlike some of our other handicappers who tend to bet totals far out, with 7-8 points of leeway, Raymond bets 5 to 6 points under or over, keeping things close.
He didn’t apply the same philosophy to his spread wager, which was a +1.5 on the Ducks vs the Flyers.
And with only 1 moneyline wager on his roster, it seems that Raymond has identified his niche and is sticking with it.
Best NHL Handicappers Last Week
Here’s a look at our top five handicappers from last week. As you can see, the betting volume wasn’t high, but our top cappers did manage to win over $1,550.
Overall, the top five handicappers went 19-3 for a total win rate of 86%. It’s one of the best win rates for our NHL cappers all season!
We’ve seen Ron Raymond and Amedeus Mastrangelo in the top seats before, as well as William Taylor and Ben Burns. Pure Lock is a new fas, and while they only placed 2 wagers, they did win $220 off them.
A Bad Totals Ruins a Good Streak
William Taylor is no stranger to the NHL leaderboard. But, he’s had a rough go of it for a little while. It was nice to see him come back last week.
He could have made the #2 or even #1 spot if he hadn’t lost a totals wager on the Kings vs Oilers game. He bet under 6 points, and wouldn’t you know the game ended 3-4 for a total of 7 points.
What We’re Betting This Week
Tonight we’ll be watching the Hurricanes play the Panthers, which is bound to be an interesting game. A few of our handicappers have already picked over 6 for the total, and it seems likely.
The moneyline odds see the Hurricanes as favorites at +105, and the Panthers as underdogs at -125.
Saturday, we’ll see the Maple Leafs play the Bruins, which will probably end in a Leafs W. The Bruins aren’t doing bad this season, but the Leafs are really on top of their game.
Same with the Flyers on Sunday. We’d imagine the Leafs are going to be in excellent form this upcoming week.
