Week 1 of the NFL Preseason is officially here, and every team in the league is set to take the field at some point. You usually won’t see a ton of starters on the field in Preseason Week 1, but that strategy changes with every team.
Where to Bet on the NFL Preseason
There are several different ways to bet on every game in the preseason, including looking at point totals. Here are the five best Week 1 over/under picks to make based on the schedule.
Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens
Titans vs. Ravens Picks
Best Bet: Over 31.5 Points
The Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens are both expected to be playoff contenders in the AFC in 2022. They also have something in common as each team does most of the damage on offense by running the football.
Teams that love to run the football usually bleed the clock and make it harder to score, but not in the preseason. Tackling is hard for defenses to begin the preseason, and there should be some big runs in this game.
Don’t be surprised to see this over hit early in the second half, as both teams will rack up the yardage.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Detroit Lions
Falcons vs. Lions Picks
Best Bet: Under 35 Points
A pair of struggling teams are ready to meet up in Detroit in Week 1 as the Lions host the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are expected to really struggle in 2022, while there is some hope for the Lions to show signs of improvement.
Even if one or both of these two teams will have a better year than expected in 2022, you can expect this game to be a little sloppy. There just isn’t a ton of talent in this game, and there won’t be many points scored.
Take the under 35.0 points for this matchup.
Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers
Best Bet: Over 32.5 Points
The San Francisco 49ers will host the Green Bay Packers in a rematch of a playoff game from a season ago. San Francisco won that game, and there is a good chance that these teams will meet up again in the 2022 playoffs.
Each team is going to be loaded with veterans during the 2022 season, and that likely means that there will be bench players suiting up for this contest. Both teams do have the potential to put up a ton of points this season, and that could play out in this matchup.
Take the over 32.5 points as one of these teams will likely find the end zone at least three times.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Chicago Bears
Best Bet: Under 35 Points
The Chicago Bears were an absolute mess on offense a season ago, and the roster still looks thin. Chicago will be starting some regulars in Week 1 of the preseason when they host the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs are a team that always drives up the betting total in games, but that’s not the case in the preseason. Kansas City won’t be playing regulars in this matchup, and they don’t have a ton of offensive depth.
Don’t expect much offense in Chicago in this game, as the under is the right way to go.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Best Bet: Over 34 Points
The Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders wrap up the Week 1 preseason slate, and this should be an exciting game to watch. Even if both teams aren’t playing a ton of starters, the Vikings and Raiders are going to be offensive-minded teams in 2022.
The Vikings love to throw the football, but they also have some talented running backs as well. Las Vegas put up 27 points in the Hall of Fame Game, and that experience should serve them well in this matchup.
This could be one of the highest-scoring NFL games of the week, and the over will hit.
