NFL Week 2 Over/Under Predictions – Best Totals Picks

The opening to the NFL season is in the books and week two is here. Week one saw some teams struggle, a few look somewhat decent, and a whole bunch of teams looking rusty. The Ravens may have been the sharpest team to take the field last week as they cut through the Browns 38-6.

The Packers also looked to be in good form as they downed the Vikings 43-34. The only issue was that the Green Bay defense allowed 24 points in the fourth. The loss of the preseason may have been more of an issue than many people thought.

Now, week two is here and some interesting games are coming up that are worth looking at starting with the above mentioned Green Bay Packers at home taking on the Detroit Lions.

Lions vs Packers Over/Under: 49.5 Points

Kickoff: 1 p.m. ET on Sunday

Aaron Rogers looked true to form going 32 for 44 and 364 yards with two touchdowns. He tapped into several receivers including Davante Adams who had 14 catches and 156 yards. Marquez Valdes-Scantling almost cracked the 100-yard mark with 96 yards of his own. The running game was on the shoulders of Aaron Jones who rushed 16 times for 66 yards. Plus, Tyler Ervin exploded with three runs and 38 yards for an average of 12.7 yards per carry.

The Lions blew a fourth-quarter lead with some shaky defense late which allowed the Chicago Bears to storm back for a late win. The good news is that Matthew Stafford looked to be in good form with 297 yards and a touchdown. He did have one interception with the bulk of his handoffs going to Adrian Peterson who ran for 93 yards.

The Packers should win this game but the Lions can score points and always play Green Bay tough. This is a critical division game early in the season.

Broncos vs Steelers Over/Under: 40.5 Points

Kickoff: 1 p.m. ET on Sunday

Big Ben looked out of place during the start of the game last week against the New York Giants. Then, Roethlisberger started to warm up and the Steelers began to roll. The Steelers defense looked as impressive as ever with a mix of rushes, blitzes, and confusing secondary looks that seemed to baffle Giants QB, Daniel Jones. The good news is for Giant fans – Jones also looked like a veteran when given a decent amount of time by his offensive line.

The Broncos come into the game after a disappointing game against the Tennessee Titans. Denver had trouble moving the ball as Drew Lock just cracked the 200-yard mark with 216 yards. However, he went 22 of 33 in doing so. The Titans just kept the Denver offense trapped in a low-yard play offensive mode.

Dropped passes by Denver receivers did not help and kept Tennessee in the game. Expect that same kind of pressure – if not worse – from the Steelers.

Saints vs Raiders Over/Under: 49 Points

Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday

One note – this should be a great game regardless of which way you go. It’s opening night for the Las Vegas Raiders as they move into their new stadium and leave the worries of Oakland behind them. They are coming off a win against the Carolina Panthers – but to be clear – the New Orleans Saints are not the Panthers. The Saints downed the Tampa Bay Bucs and Tom Brady in a Season opening slugfest.

Both Drew Brees and Derek Carr played well with Carr going 22 of 30 239 yards with no interceptions.

Plus, the Raiders were able to run the ball with some consistency. The same goes for the Saints with one weird stat. Brees only threw for 160 yards going 18 for 30. Even with those numbers, he notched two touchdowns. The running game for the Saints should move the ball better against the Raiders.

The key for this NFL week 2 game total will be if the Saints defense shows up two weeks in a row.

Best Bet: Under 49 Points
