NFL 6-Point Teaser Picks for Week 5
Best Bet: Packers from -8 to -2
Green Bay will head to London after surviving an overtime game with the New England Patriots, who were playing their third-string quarterback.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed concern about how Green Bay has been winning football games. With a young receiving core, Rodgers has been forced to be more patient than he is typically comfortable with.
The Giants have been winning ugly as they bounce back with first-year coach Brian Daboll at the helm. New York is 3-1, but has been winning a lot of ugly, one-possession games. Green Bay will win a close, ugly game.
Best Bet: Jaguars from -7 to -1
Jacksonville has flourished under first-year coach Doug Pederson. Houston doesn’t really have much of an identity yet under first-year coach Lovie Smith.
Texans quarterback Davis Mills has struggled to make plays and has only scored 73 points this season. The Jaguars are in first place in the division and will win this game comfortably.
Best Bet: Lions from +3 to +9
The Patriots were forced to play rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe last week due to injuries. Detroit has a strong offense that is capable of putting up a bunch of points.
With New England having uncertainty at quarterback, being able to get the Lions at more than a touchdown on the teaser line provides good value.
NFL 10-Point Teaser Picks for Week 5
Best Bet: Bills from -14 to -4
Buffalo is a significantly better team than Pittsburgh right now. The Steelers offense can’t score and the defense doesn’t have the same pass rush without linebacker TJ Watt. The Bills will roll in this game.
Best Bet: Seahawks from +5.5 to +15.5
Seattle quarterback Geno Smith is undergoing a remarkable renaissance. The Seahawks played in a wild game with Detroit last week that resulted in 93 points being scored between the two teams. New Orleans fought valiantly in London with Andy Dalton at quarterback.
The Saints, however, have a ton of injuries throughout their lineup. New Orleans may win this one, but it won’t be a blowout.
Bengals vs. Ravens Picks
Best Bet: Bengals from +3 to +13
Cincinnati has started to put things together over the past two weeks, scoring two straight victories to even its record at 2-2. The Bengals have scored 54 points over the past two weeks after struggling to score more than 20 in their first two games. With Cincinnati and Baltimore each hoping to contend for the AFC North title, this should be a closely-contested contest.
The Ravens are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Bills. Baltimore has a high-powered offense, but does have lapses on defenses. Those lapses will help keep this game close.
