Sometimes you have to recognize that when the defense is inviting, you will likely see more scoring. And you would probably like to see an atmosphere that promotes more scoring if you are going to look at these kinds of props. Well, generally speaking, that is.
So what we’re saying is that as productive a team as Kansas City is offensively, they are going to let the other team score, and it’s just a matter of who we think has the best chance of doing some damage.
Maybe that’s scientific; maybe it isn’t. But it’s one of the things we think about when it comes to making our week 6 props picks.
Kareem Hunt Props Picks for Week 6
Opponent: Arizona Cardinals
Time: Sunday,October 17 – 4:05 PM ET
TD-Scoring Odds: -145 to be “Anytime” scorer
No, the price does not look overly appetizing. But the Cardinals have been pretty generous when it comes to dealing with opposing ground attacks (allowing 5.4 ypc), and with Nick Chubb sitting with a calf injury, it is Hunt’s time to pick up the slack. He’s chomping at the bit to get more carries, so the only question is whether he is up to handling the added burden. Our guess is that he is.
Terry McLaurin Props Picks for Week 6
Opponent: Kansas City Chiefs
Time: Sunday, October 17 – 1 PM ET
TD-Scoring Odds: +125 to be “Anytime” scorer
Somebody’s going to be scoring for Washington on Sunday. Why not McLaurin, who has a ton of talent – enough that even when the WFT has not had much on the opposite side of him, he’s been dangerous? It bothers us a little that the catch percentage isn’t incredibly high (59%), but the Chiefs are about as permissive as it gets in the secondary, yielding 8.9 yards per opposition pass attempt.
Mark Andrews Props Picks for Week 6
Opponent: Los Angeles Chargers
Time: Sunday, October 17 – 1 PM ET
TD-Scoring Odds: +110 to be “Anytime” scorer
We have a pretty good idea as to how the Chargers are going to come out on defense for Sunday’s game. They have to do what they can to contain Lamar Jackson. And they are going to try and prevent people like Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from getting loose beyond the secondary.
That will wind up leaving openings for running backs, for sure, but also receivers who are going to be catching stuff underneath. And Andrews, who has become one of the league’s most capable tight ends, fits that bill. He’s got a couple of scores, which in and of itself is not overwhelming. But he’s got a ridiculously high connection percentage with his quarterback (76.3%), which is going to guarantee him to be a “go-to” guy.
Cooper Kupp Props Picks for Week 6
Opponent: New York Giants
Time: Sunday, October 17 – 1 PM ET
TD-Scoring Odds: -140 to be “Anytime” scorer
Kupp has not had a touchdown in the last couple of games, and his yards-per-target figures have decreased, but it’s hard to deny that he is among the best in the NFL in that role of the reliable receiver that his QB can look to. Only Davante Adams has been targeted more. And Kupp is a better short-range option than anyone; his average yards before catch is 8.6. For the Giants, there aren’t a lot of “solutions” for him.
Geno Smith Props Picks for Week 6
Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers
Time: Sunday, October 17 – 8:20 PM ET
TD-Scoring Odds: +450 to be “Anytime” scorer
Look, it’s hard to believe that Smith was somehow “reborn” based on a couple of big drives he led the ‘Hawks on after Russell Wilson’s injury. But here he is for another NFL start, and perhaps it is worth acknowledging that in his rookie year with the Jets, he ran for six touchdowns, with fully one-third of his runs going for first downs.
No doubt some of that involved being a “deer in the headlights” and taking off with the ball. But isn’t there a pretty good chance he may be getting a little of that feeling from the Pittsburgh defense?
