The NHL handicapper has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but last week was a high week. Collectively, our cappers hit an 81% win rate with their picks.
Keep reading to see who topped the charts and see what we’re betting on in the coming week of NHL hockey.
Deluca Climbs the Ladder Again
We started doing these NHL handicapper recaps at the start of the season, and ever since we did, Deluca has been brushing up on the top 5. In week 4, he took one of the top spots, but fell off after that. After weeks of struggling, Deluca has finally managed to go 5-0 and make #1 again.
Even though he only placed five wagers, he managed to rake in $500. And how did he do it? With moneylines! Usually, the top cappers use spreads and totals, but Deluca must have stared deep into his crystal ball for these picks.
He was particularly confident with his Red Wings picks, having bet the moneyline and a total wager for that game.
Regardless, after a rough stint, it’s nice to see Deluca coming back into the scene.
Top NHL Handicappers Last Week
Last week we saw a few new names pop up on the leaderboard. Randall Dickelman and Al McMordie are newcomers, as well as Timothy Black.
And, of course, as one of the first top NHL handicappers way back when, Mario Deluca comes in as number one.
Together, our top five handicappers went 26-6 for an overall win rate of 81.25%. That’s almost a 30% jump in efficiency over the previous week where we saw volume bettors like Sean Kuchman take the top spots.
Overall, the top five handicappers brought home $2,102, which is also higher than the previous week’s total.
Timothy Black Misses One Wager
One of the newcomers last week was Timothy Black, coming in hot with 4-1 record and $367 in profit.
Taking a look at his wagers, it seems he also attempted the ML victory.
He was one wager away from (probably) taking the #2 spot last week. Had a the Knights won instead of the Predators, the leaderboard might look a bit different.
Alas, it was not so! But a great first appearance from Black, who we’re likely to see again.
Where Our Money’s at This Week
The Carolina Hurricanes take on the Buffalo Sabres tonight, and some of our handicappers have picked up the underdog ML on the Sabres.
I’m not sure how I feel about that ML, considering the wide disparity between the two teams this season, but we’ll see.
Saturday, we’ll be watching the Devils play the Flyers, rooting for the Devils, of course. And later in the day, we’ll be betting on the Golden Knights as they take on the Blackhawks.
