PGA Preview: 2020 Wyndham Championship Predictions

The Wyndham Championship is next up after an exciting PGA Championship last weekend. Brooks Koepka is a co-favorite heading into the opening round with Webb Simpson. Both players come in at +1000.

The players coming in at +2000 and below are all players who had a couple of strong rounds last week before Collin Morikawa slammed the door on Sunday to capture his first Major at the age of 23. That ended Koepka’s two PGA Championship streak at two.

Famed course design Donald Ross loved small greens and Sedgefield has them. The course features all of the classic elements expected in links first laid out in 1926 complete with tight doglegs and several narrow fairways. Players can expect well-groomed and fast Bermuda on the greens and a fairly deep rough according to several reports.

Webb Simpson +1000

There is a reason Webb Simpson is riding in at +1000 as a co-favorite. Simpson won this tournament in 2011 and he’s finished in second place the last two years and third in 2017. Since 2010 he has finished in the top-twelve eight times at the Wyndham. He already has two wins this year and has a scoring average of 69.093 this season.

Tommy Fleetwood +1800

It’s amazing that Tommy Fleetwood has not won and had such a rough season thus far. The English player notched a T29 last week giving him only five outings of 30 and under this year. However, he looked great for several rounds at the PGA Championship – almost as good as when he finished 3 rd at the Honda Classic.

Billy Horschel +3300

Billy Horschel has a game that could play perfectly at Sedgefield. The former Florida Gator is now 50 th in FedEx ranking and has improved his scoring average to 70.260. He has three top-ten finishes this season and two top-tens and an eleventh place run at Sedgefield.

Others I Like

Paul Casey and Jordan Spieth – Both Paul Casey and Jordan Spieth could be a factor this week. Casey had some rough holes at the PGA Championship but finished off strong coming into the clubhouse at T2 with Dustin Johnson. Jordan Spieth is due for a turnaround. He’s missed the cut twice this year and has had several tournaments when he was finished 50 th or worse. But, he’s also finished in the top-fifteen three times this season. He’s just due for one!
