The Valero Texas Open returns after COVID-19 shuttered the 2020 event. Back in 2019, it was Corey Conners who surged to the front for a two-stroke win over Charley Hoffman. Conners makes his return as a favorite at +2000 with Hoffman coming in at +2800.
Both players are riding close to the favorite to win outright with Jordan Speith riding the top of the list at +1000. Spieth has played much-improved golf this season after a few troubling years following his run of ten wins between 2015 and 2017.

He’s not racked up another win in 2021, but he has finished in 3 rd once and has five top-25 finishes, and four events inside the top-ten.
There’s good news for PGA Tour fans as well. The Valero Texas Open will allow fans at the tournament! The event will allow 5000 fans daily which is in addition to the 1000 plus volunteers that will be present.
Here are the top-five favorites through +2000 to win the 2021 Valero Texas Open outright according to Intertops.

2021 Valero Texas Open Preview
Where: San Antonio, Texas
Course: TPC San Antonio – Oaks Course
Format: Stroke Play
Par: 72
Length: 7,435
When: April 1-4, 2021
Purse: $7.5 Million.
TV Coverage: NBC/Golf
The Oaks was designed by Greg Norman with the help of Sergio García. The look is traditional but has a natural open feeling for players and spectators. Multiple fan bleachers and structures that are the norm at some TOUR golf courses are replaced here with natural mounds and grass openings.
The fairways are a mix between tight tree-lined and wide open, all focusing on hitting second shot target areas that are protected by tall natural grass roughs. That goes for the greens as well as many of them go from putting surface to traditional rough and then natural grass in only a few yards.
A misplayed approach shot could be disastrous. Look for some elevated short iron play this week! In the last ten Texas Open tournaments, there has not been a single playoff finish.
2021 Valero Texas Open Predictions
Jordan Spieth +1000
I’ve faded on Speith several times this season due to the reasons mentioned above. But, he looked strong with his T9 last week at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play event. That finish, combined with his improving record this season puts him at the top of my list.
Si-Woo Kim +3000
Si-Woo Kim was the three-day leader of this tournament in 2019 before finishing on T4. Kim enjoys this course and is probably ready to erase the 2019 slide out of his memory. He already has a win this year at the American Express and carded two top-ten finishes including a T9 two weeks ago at The PLAYERS Championship.
Zach Johnson +4500
Zach Johnson has reigned in his putting and strokes gained stats as of late and finished T8 recently at the Honda Classic. He’s played well at this course in the past including a solo 4 th place finish in 2018.
Others I Like: I’m looking forward to seeing how Corey Conners defends his Texas Open win. He’s not a player that should be pushed too far to the side. Nobody should be surprised if Tony Finau (+1200) is the lone player standing on Sunday and I think Rickie Fowler at +6000 is a top- pick for fantasy players.
