With the international break drawing to a close, it’s time to lock in your Premier League predictions for Gameweek 29. Accordingly, I have found a handful of great EPL picks to get you in the mood for the weekend’s action.
Manchester City vs. Liverpool
Best Bet: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals (+105)
Manchester City and Liverpool invariably produce fireworks when they do battle in the Premier League, or any competition for that matter. Indeed, eight of their last 10 encounters have dished up over 3.5 goals, while both teams have scored in 22 of their previous 29 meetings.
For that reason, I recommend backing both teams to score and over 2.5 goals when Man City hosts Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick-off. Let’s not forget that Pep Guardiola’s men are the EPL’s top scorers, thanks largely to Erling Haaland’s 28 league goals this season.
Arsenal vs. Leeds United
Best Bet: Arsenal -1 (-134)
Arsenal returns from the international break sitting eight points clear at the summit of the Premier League table. The Gunners have won 22 of their 28 league matches this season, putting them in pole position to clinch the title.
Mikel Arteta’s men have also won each of their last six EPL games, scoring over 2.5 goals in five of those victories. With Leeds United sitting 14th in the standings – 46 points behind Arsenal – I suggest placing a -1 handicap on the Gunners to take the odds from -400 to -134.
Nottingham Forest vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
Best Bet: Nottingham Forest to Win (+180)
Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers are separated by a solitary point in the table, although Forest has a game in hand on Julen Lopetegui’s side. Although Wolves sit three places above Forest, they have suffered two defeats more this season.
The Tricky Trees have been immense on home soil of late, losing just one of their last 10 league matches at the City Ground, with clean-sheet wins coming against Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Leeds. That’s why I’m backing Forest to beat Wolves on Saturday.
West Ham United vs. Southampton
Best Bet: Under 2.5 Goals (-134)
Only seven of West Ham United’s 26 Premier League games this season have produced over 2.5 goals. The Hammers have scored a measly 24 goals in 2022-23, but they have also conceded just 34, giving them the best defensive record in the bottom half.
The Saints have also been involved in plenty of low-scoring clashes recently, with five of their previous six league outings dishing up under 2.5 goals. With that in mind, I expect West Ham and Southampton to combine for under 2.5 goals on Sunday.
Newcastle United vs. Manchester United
Best Bet: Draw or Manchester United Double Chance (-160)
Newcastle United lost just one of their first 22 Premier League games this season. However, the Magpies have only managed to win two of their previous seven, and they also lost the EFL Cup final to Manchester United last month.
Newcastle and Man Utd will renew acquaintances on Sunday, with the hosts priced at +130 and the visitors priced at +175. Since the Red Devils have lost just two of their past 27 outings across all competitions, backing them to avoid defeat makes a lot of sense here.
