Seahawks QB Wilson now MVP betting favorite

Russell Wilson’s hot start doesn’t just have the Seattle Seahawks sitting tied atop the NFC West, it has the 31-year-old sitting alone atop the NFL MVP betting odds.

After two weeks, the Seahawks are second in the NFL in points scored (73) and Wilson leads the NFL in completion percentage (82.5), passing touchdowns (six) and passer rating (140.0). He also has 68 yards rushing and is one of seven players with multiple runs of 20-plus yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Wilson has moved into the lead for NFL MVP betting odds, as well, sitting at +300 (win $3 for every $1 bet) at PointsBet. But he isn’t the runaway favorite, and the field is not only crowded, but filled with players used to winning hardware.

Preseason favorite Patrick Mahomes is now tied for second, the Kansas City quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP sitting at +500. Mahomes was the NFL MVP in 2018. Baltimore quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson is tied with Mahomes, with Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers — a two-time league MVP and the MVP of Super Bowl XLV — sits fourth at +800.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray — who also has his team at 2-0 in the NFC West — is the only other player at better than 10-1 odds at +900.

Jackson and Mahomes will face off next Monday night, while the battle for NFC West supremacy could take a while to play out. The Seahawks and Cardinals don’t play until Weeks 7 and 11, while the Los Angeles Rams (also 2-0) don’t play the Seahawks or Cardinals until Week 10 (at home against Seattle). The Rams play Arizona twice and Seattle once more in a five-week span to close out the regular season.
