Slow and Steady Wins the NBA Handicapper Race

Compared to our blowout performance in week 18, week 19 was a bit of a slog. Our top handicappers still managed to make over $2k in profit, but they lost quite a few wagers along the way.

Check out who managed to do the best last week, and see what games we’re watching in week 20.

The Best NBA Handicappers Last Week

Compared to the knockout performances from our handicappers in week 18, last week was kind of a struggle. With a collective record of 53-30 and a 63.8% win rate, the top five weren’t even close to catching up with the 100% record.

But, the top five put in the work, even though they seemed to slog through it a bit. They came out with $2,010 in profit, which is still an admirable sum.

We did see a few new faces this week, including Logan Wilson and Diego Garcia.

Al Grant Bets Nothing But Favorites

Looking at Grant’s wagers for last week, there’s a clear connection. They are all fairly conservative, with -110 odds on every spread and total he placed.

My man really said why struggle picking wagers when I can just use the same approach for everything. And in fairness, it’s not a bad idea. Totals and spreads for NBA betting are often more profitable than moneylines, due to the high rate of upset. He just needs to do a bit more research for his totals wagers, as he went 4-3 with totals.

Looking at historic data for matchups of the same teams can help you decide if you should be betting over or under, and what the margin should be. In some instances, like the Spurs and Thunder under 236.5, he could have definitely made that a higher score.

Where We’re Betting This Week

Tonight we’ll be watching the Hornets and the Timberwolves. Some of our cappers already have their picks in. Two handicappers are wagering a -8.5 spread on the Timberwolves, while the other two have a +9 on the Hornets.

Tomorrow, we’ll watch the Celtics play the 76ers. The Celtics are favorites here, so the moneyline probably isn’t worth it, but spreads will be profitable.

And of course, we have to watch the Lakers play the Knicks tomorrow, then the Celtics on Saturday. It’s just too entertaining to not see Luka and LeBron out there together.
