Slow Week for NHL Handicappers, Less than $1,000 Profit

The first few weeks of January are always when we go hardest. Whether it’s in the gym, at work, or at the sportsbook, we’re nose to the grindstone. 

But, we tend to get burnt out after a while, and hit a slump. That’s what happened last week, with our top five NHL handicappers making less than $1,000 for the first time in a while.

William Taylor Goes 4-1

William Taylor has been a frequent visitor to the NHL handicapper leaderboard. He’s been absent for a few weeks, but he’s back now. 

Last week he won $309 (that’s one third of the whole top five profit) by going 4-1. 

As you can see, Mr. Taylor only placed a few wagers last week. He was watching the Oilers quite carefully, and even bet against them on the 21st. 

As was the trend last week, too, the top five are spending a bit more money wagering moneylines than usual. Typically, our best bettors are doubling down on spreads and totals, but Taylor has been following the ML train this week and with good results. 

In fact, looking at his season stats, Taylor has gone 29-18 with his moneyline wagers, that’s a 61% win rate. Compared to some of the other handicappers, that’s pretty good for moneylines. 

Top NHL Handicappers Last Week

After a stellar performance in the previous week, the top NHL handicappers are taking it easy. Last week, they went 13-4, with a total win rate of 76.47%. Overall, the top five won $934. 

This is the first time in a while that the top five have brought home less than $1,000. 

We’ve seen all of these folks on the leaderboard before, but they must all be hitting that mid-January slump. 

Mastrangelo Misses the Avalanche W

The only wager that William Taylor lost last week was the -113 moneyline on the Avalanche vs the Oilers. 

Coincidentally, Amedeua Mastrangelo also missed that same wager last week, breaking his streak. 

But, at least Mastrangelo is up in profit this week ($109). He’s had a rough go of it this season, and is in the hole $231 since the NHL season started. 

Where Our Money’s at This Week

Tonight, we’ll be watching the Devils play the Bruins, which will probably be a brutal game for the Bruins. The Devils are in good form this season, and are currently sitting at #5 in the East. 

On Friday, we’ll be watching the Dallas Stars and the Golden Knights. The Stars started the season well but got beat out by teams like the Knights, Jets, and the Wild. They’re putting up a fight, also sitting #5 in the West right now.
