All the top-rated online sportsbooks have posted a set of NCAAF futures odds to win the 2020 national title. Since spring practice and annual spring games were cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, there is quite a bit of grey area surrounding every Division IA team’s prospects for next season.
Team unknowns, along with numerous question marks on each side of the ball makes it all the more harder to handicap any team right now. However, in light of the posted odds to win a national title, there is also some solid betting value to be found if you know where and how to look.
To help clarify the contenders on the futures list, the following is a breakdown of teams by the five individual major conferences:
ACC
Clemson +300
Miami, Florida +8000
Florida State +10000
North Carolina +15000
Virginia +25000
Virginia Tech +25000
Syracuse +50000
Boston College +100000
North Carolina State +100000
This list begins and ends with Clemson as the overall favorite to win a national title.
Everyone else on this list is playing for a distant second in the ACC. Led by Heisman favorite Trevor Lawrence at quarterback, the Tigers offer quite a bit of value in the top spot.
Way Too Early College Football Playoff Predictions for 2020-2021
Big 12
Oklahoma +2000
Texas +3300
Oklahoma State +5000
Iowa State +10000
Baylor +25000
Kansas State +50000
TCU +50000
Texas Tech +50000
The Sooners should win the Big 12 again to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff, but Texas is a value-added team to watch as well. Betting the Longhorns to win the conference might make some sense right now.PPH News: Pelican PPH Offers Bookies More For Less
Oklahoma and Texas will most likely meet each other twice this season to decide their national title fate.
Big Ten
Ohio State +400
Penn State +2500
Michigan +3300
Wisconsin +5000
Minnesota +8000
Nebraska +10000
Iowa +15000
Michigan State +50000
Northwestern +50000
Purdue +50000
Maryland +100000
It is tough to see the Buckeyes not playing in the playoff as Big Ten Champions. They also offer value in their +400 odds to win a national title behind Heisman hopeful quarterback Justin Fields. Wisconsin always offers some added value to win the conference title playing in the Big Ten West.

Pac-12
Oregon +2500
USC +6600
Washington +8000
Utah +10000
Arizona State +15000
California +50000
Colorado +50000
Northwestern +50000
Stanford +50000
UCLA +50000
Washington State +50000
This is definitely the most wide-open race for a conference title among the majors.
Yet, none of these teams should seriously compete for a national title.
Oregon are the logical pick to win the Pac-12 this season, but taking a flyer on Arizona State as a moderate longshot could be a good way to hedge that bet.
SEC
Alabama +600
Georgia +1000
Florida +1600
LSU +2000
Texas A&M +2500
Auburn +3300
Tennessee +5000
Kentucky +10000
Mississippi State +15000
The top five teams on this list also fall into the Top 10 of the NCAAF Championship futures list.
This is good and bad if you are a big SEC betting fan.
With the best teams beating each other up during the regular season, the value in each team’s individual odds to win a national title is diminished a bit. Still, it is hard to see Alabama out of the playoff two years in a row. That chip on its shoulder is big enough to carry this team all the way to another national title.
