NFL Preseason Week 3 Point Spread Picks
Baltimore Ravens vs. Washington Football Team Picks
Really the only thing you need to know heading into this week’s Ravens-WFT game is that Baltimore under John Harbaugh is almost unbeatable in the preseason. Winning in the preseason isn’t really the goal for NFL teams, but Harbaugh and Baltimore preach winning.
In preseason games under Harbaugh, the Ravens are 39-12 (.765) straight up. They are also in the midst of a 19-game preseason win streak. Baltimore hasn’t lost a preseason game since 2015. They are also 35-15-1 ATS in the preseason under Harbaugh.
Best ATS Pick: RAVENS -4
Los Angeles Rams vs. Denver Broncos Picks
The Rams haven’t really played well this preseason, but they haven’t really played any starters. New QB Matthew Stafford hasn’t taken a snap and likely will not against Denver either. The Broncos, on the other hand, are 2-0 and have put up 30 or more points in both of their preseason wins.
The Rams are 7-3-1 ATS in their last ten games on grass and Denver is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as a favorite. Those likely don’t mean much, but 8.5 points seems like too much to give to an unproven Broncos team.
Best ATS Pick: RAMS +8.5
Las Vegas Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers Picks
The San Francisco 49ers are favored by 3.5 points over the Raiders on Sunday afternoon. The Niners are at home, but they are 1-1 in the preseason compared to Raiders 2-0. In fact, the Raiders have done very well under Gruden in preseason games and bettors should take note.
Dating back to his first stint with the franchise, Gruden and the Raiders are 19-9-2 ATS in 30 games. Since he came back to be the Raiders head coach in 2018, Gruden is 7-1 ATS in the preseason and his Raiders have covered in six straight.
Best ATS Pick: RAIDERS +3.5
Minnesota Vikings vs. Kansas City Chiefs Picks
Kansas City is 2-0 this preseason, which is somewhat of a surprise. Typically, fading an Andy Reid coached team in the preseason is the way to go. Opponents are 35-31-1 ATS against Reid in the preseason.
On top of that, Minnesota’s Mike Zimmer normally gets the best out of his Vikings in the preseason. In his tenure with Minnesota, Zimmer’s teams are 17-0 ATS in preseason games. Unfortunately, the Vikings have had a horrendous 2021 preseason. They are 0-2 and have scored just 16 points.
Look for the Chiefs offense, regardless of starters, to get the best of Minnesota and cover the four points.
Best ATS Pick: CHIEFS -4
Green Bay Packers vs. Buffalo Bills Picks
In nonconference preseason games where spreads of 5.5 or more are rare, there is value on the underdog. In Buffalo on Saturday night, the Packers come to town as 8-point underdogs. That’s a lot of points for a preseason game.
In such games (preseason, spread of 5.5-plus), underdogs are 45-26 ATS. Neither teams’ starters will play much, if at all which probably lends itself toward a closer game. Take the dog.
Best ATS Pick: PACKERS -8
