Last week was a tough affair, with a very low win-rate among the top five NHL handicappers. However, they pulled through and still managed to make over $1,500 in profit.
Keep reading to see who performed the best, and where our handicappers are going to be putting their money this week.
Sports Hub Insider Casts A Wide Net and Finds Profit
Sports Hub Insider is one of the many computer/AI picks models we feature on ScoresandStats.com. The model primarily wagers on NFL football, but it’s recently been seeing success with NHL wagers.
This past week, the Insider went 6-2 overall, with a 75% win rate and a total of $353 in profit.
It wagered a good balance of moneylines, totals, and spreads. Unlike some picks models that just wager the favorite on all bets, the Insider wagered a few underdog lines and won. The moneylines on the Canadiens and Golden Knights paid off for it.
The Sports Hub Insider is part of the Starter Package, which makes it a great model to follow if you’re just signing up at ScoresandStats.com. Unlike some of the human handicappers, the AI model provides consistent value. In the past 14 days, it was 11-4, and in the past 30 days, it was 25-20. So it’s definitely hit a bit of a lucky streak recently, but it still remains in the green.
Top Handicappers for the NHL Last Week
Last week was a bit of slow week in terms of earnings, with only a combined $1,583 in winnings among the top five. That’s around $300 less than we saw in the week before, but still an admirable amount.
Overall, our top five handicappers went 37-26, by far the worst leaderboard record so far, sitting at an average 58% win rate. To be fair, Scott’s Picks and Sal Lombardi pulled down the average with their losses because the other three handicappers all had a 75% win rate or better.
Four out of the five handicappers in the leaderboard are Starter or Starter Plus members, which means their picks are available in our cheapest subscription tiers. Starter Plus subscribers have access to dozens of handicapper picks for just $9 per month, including LC Sports, Bobby Conn, and Scott’s Picks.
Sal Lombardi Makes Top 5 By the Skin on His Teeth
Sal Lombardi made the top five because of his overall profit for the week, but his win percentage is teetering on a knifepoint at 51.35%. Taking a look at his wagers, he bet primarily moneylines last week, going 14-13. He supplemented the straight wagers with totals, going an even 5-5 there.
He did place some interesting (and risky wagers) last week, specifically a moneyline on the Blackhawks to beat the Maple Leafs.
He locked in at +355 on the Blackhawks, but lost by a long shot. I took a look at the consensus data, but all the sharp money was on the Maple Leafs. Not sure if Lombardi was just crossing his fingers and praying, or if he had some bad intel.
Despite his losses, Lombardi is a consistent sports bettor, and he’s made profit, and that’s what counts.
What We’re Watching This Week
Tonight we have a couple of handicappers betting the under on the Bruins and Blackhawks game, which isn’t surprising.
On Thursday, we see the Jets travel to the Buffalo Sabres. The Jets are still one of the top teams in the league, but the Sabres have grit, and on their home turf, they can be a hard team to beat.
On Friday, we see the Maple Leafs take on the Capitals. Both teams are leading the Eastern Conference, with the Capitals 17-6-2 and the Leafs 15-7-2. It’s kind of anyone’s game at this point.
